  “The hotel is located in the heart of the town, close to tourist attractions and shops. Housed in a beautiful, monumental old palace, the hotel offers a unique and charming atmosphere. Despite its central location, it is quiet inside. The rooms are very clean and spacious, the breakfast is good and staff is very friendly. The hotel also has a beautiful indoor swimming pool.”

  “A little gem in the centre of the city. It was a perfect little piece of France. Very arty and quirky decor, a beautiful peaceful little courtyard where you could get tea and a very nice Continental breakfast with proper local produce- not a plastic pot of jam or pre wrapped butter pat in sight! Rouen itself is delightful. You can spend hours just wandering round the medieval streets and delighting in the different coloured buildings.”

  “No. We arrived at the hotel having driven 240 miles looking forward to a relaxing evening. There was no reception staff at Mercure desk as its being refurbished. We went to Ibis hotel and checked in there. Our room was on the 6 th floor and one lift was out of order and the second lift was faulty and wouldn’t leave the ground floor. We carried the luggage by stairs. The last straw was the smoke detector in our room was covered in tissue paper covering the smoke sensor. When one of the staff came to check the room she told us that guests cover the smoke detector to be able to smoke in the room. We said that each room should be properly checked. Having a dis functional smoke detector is both illegal and very dangerous especially being so high up in the building. We decided to leave the hotel. Our payment was refunded. We went to the Mercure hotel Cathedral. This wAs a very distressing experience and should not be open for business until the work is carried out.”
