Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSteep narrow stairs and no lift so wouldn't be suitable for restricted mobility
Great Central location (for foot travellers anyway - not sure what the parking would be like). Cheap and cheerful basic hotel. Clean and comfortable small en-suite room. Helpful staff. Didnt eat there but breakfast looked perfectly fine. Plenty of cafes etc immediately nearby.

United KingdomIt was a wonderful old property so some of the fittings were a little “rusty”.
A little gem in the centre of the city. It was a perfect little piece of France. Very arty and quirky decor, a beautiful peaceful little courtyard where you could get tea and a very nice Continental breakfast with proper local produce- not a plastic pot of jam or pre wrapped butter pat in sight! Rouen itself is delightful. You can spend hours just wandering round the medieval streets and delighting in the different coloured buildings.

CanadaThe parking situation was not well described ahead of time, causing a lot of anxiety as we tried to find the hotel in the pedestrian zone. Clear instructions and an address for parking would have been very helpful. Additionally, the thin walls between rooms allowed noise to transfer easily, making it difficult to enjoy a quiet and restful night.
The reception staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, making check-in smooth and providing useful tips for exploring the town. The hotel's location is excellent, allowing easy access to main attractions, shops, and restaurants. Additionally, the continental breakfast offered a variety of fresh items to start the day.

United KingdomHand soap and body wash dispenser very average. Recommend bringing all your own toiletries. We had a room overlooking the sweet courtyard and even though it was midweek the street noise was very disruptive. Bring earplugs. It's a little tired, very much back to basics.
Lovely friendly staff. The location is unbeatable. Car parking is very close and the hotel offer a discounted rate. The rooms are ample. The style is quaint, quirky and very original!

AustraliaCute boutique hotel in the thick of Rouen. Great location. The hotel was basic but comfortable for 1 night. Lovely continental breakfast although a little overpriced. As the hotel is old there is no lift which is understandable. Lovely hostess.

I loved the look and feel of the accommodation. It was very quaint and fitting of Rouen. The room was clean and tidy. It was in a good location, and we walked to all the sites. Free parking was provided at a nearby underground carpark.

United KingdomThere’s not much soundproofing between rooms. A bigger TV would have been nice.
Location is exceptional. Everything is nearby, and there’s a great Boulangerie over the road. The hotel is charming and quirky. Our room was comfortable and well appointed. Little street noise as the rooms are set back overlooking a courtyard.

United KingdomLe Vieux Carré is amazingly good value and the staff is delightful. Also, it's in a brilliant location in a wonderful building. Loved the colours in the room. And, even though we didn't eat there, we heard very good things about the food. It smelled great!

CanadaThe uneven floor that made me feel like I was on a boat but I guess that is because it is an old building!

FranceThere is only one downside that you need to be aware of - the building is quite old and the walls are thin, so you will always hear the conversation in the next room. During the night you will know if your neighbors go to bathroom and whether or not their bathroom door is creaky.
The hotel looks like a postcard. In fact, there are plenty of tourists who enter the courtyard just to make a photo. The hotel also serves as a restaurant during lunchtime and as a tearoom in the afternoon. We arrived around noon and had a most enjoyable lunch there. The breakfast consists of tea/coffee/chocolate, fresh orange juice, a croissant, a baguette, youghurt and jams. We were also offered some camembert cheese (probably to remind that it's the capital of Normandy :) The rooms are basic, but everything works, and the room is warm (an important thing in December!). The staff is super nice and welcoming.

FranceBed linen wasn't great. A very thin polyprop blanket and top sheet that was a bit too small for the bed. Parking was difficult to locate possibly due to road closure but also rain and arriving just on peak hour traffic time in the dark didn't help so take that into account when you book here.
Excellent location, very central, close to bars and restaurants and great shopping.

United StatesThe walls were like paper. I suppose that’s to be expected in such a very old building. But you could hear everything going on next door. That made me slightly paranoid.
The courtyard was adorable. We enjoyed spending our time outside. Everything was very clean. And the old fireplace in our room was really cool.
