The location was wonderful, amazing sunset views and even more incredible sunrise views across the waters, you can see the popular bridge, the mountains, the boats etc. it’s very relaxing and quiet, the rooms are a nice size and well looked after! The staff were lovely and friendly, my partner and I were exhausted after our hike, so I asked if we could have the food from the hotel restaurant into our room to eat in comfort, and the staff were so kind they brought it up for us without an issue.

We stayed on the first floor room. The room was clean & tidy. The bathroom, although a tad small, was still roomy enough for us. The bed was OK, a little harder than most we have slept in, but still able to get a good night sleep. The breakfast was great! The kitchen staff do a great cooked breakfast.... Parking was easy and it is a short walk into the beautiful town of Rye. Certainly would have no hesitation recommending this Hotel to family or friends to stay here.

The only issue I had was that walking on the old timber floorboards, they have a tendency to creek a bit. We were thinking of anyone below and hope they couldn't hear us waking around. But that was the only negative, which is not a big issue.

This was the loveliest single room I have ever stayed in. Room 3, for £65 including breakfast is a genuine bargain. The building and decor is very well looked after - great ambience. Staff really courteous and helpful - good old fashioned customer service from a bygone age. The photo I posted is of the breakfast lounge. The rules posted in the bedroom must mean some previous guests didn't use their basic common sense. Would stay here again in a heartbeat 💗

Nothing, nada, zilch

The breakfast was good though a little repetitive. No fruits or no variety. Also was surprised there was no hit porridge. However the service was excellent and quality really good.

There was a slight hiccup as the check in staff was unaware about the request for rooms next to each other. However on explaining that it was required they made the necessary arrangements immediately. Special mention of Jana fir accomodating our needs.

Not much, I’m afraid.

It was very cold and very noisy. A Guest in the room adjacent to mine was just not very considerate- talking with a raised voice on the phone and playing TV too loud very late into the night.

Location facilities
Negative section of review
Standing for over 15 minutes sending texts waiting in reception after a long journey was not pleasant despite texting arrival no clear instructions to access building followed a resident in! Not managed directly by Mercian so at the mercy of managing agent who we struggled to get hold of, wile there was no issue for those who booked direct was frustrating. Stain on carpet spoilt stay and lights no working in bedroom never sorted during stay. Would book directly in future
