“All went well.”
“Welcoming, professional staff. Immaculately clean. Odd-shaped room up in the rafters on 2nd floor. Comfy bed. Shower too small to be enjoyable. Small, thin towels. All fixtures and fittings disappointingly cheap. No breakfast available.
I paid £2 short of £100 for this room for one night. In the current economic climate any room costing less than £100 a night comes with an unwritten warning: ‘Suspend all expectations.’ The hospitality industry needs to draw back from this - £100 is NOT an insignificant sum.
My experience at the Gregory is a case in point. With a small investment (new towels; upgrade shower, fixtures and fittings; provide breakfast), complementing the excellent staff and the remarkable cleanliness, the overall standard of my stay would have reached EXCELLENT in all areas, as well as being value-for-money. In which case, the Gregory would become my first choice for my regular stays in Belfast.”
