How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Its central location was brilliant, and the host was fantastic - collected us from the airport, walked us to the apartment and gave us great advice for our time in Dubrovnik.

No lift - it was hard taking suitcases up stairs. But it is an old building so totally understand.
Very comfortable beds. Really clean. Property manager was so helpful. Great location.

We had noisy people above us but this was something that couldn’t be controlled by the people we rented the apartment from

None. We were very happy with the property and especially the location.
Amazing location, just a few steps from the main street Stradun. Rooms were spacious and clean. The host was very informative and responsive in answering queries.The property is very close to Pile gate (that has a walking ramp) which makes entry and exit with suitcases a breeze compared to other gates that has steps only.

My husband thought the bed was a bit hard. But otherwise we really loved everything and would highly recommend it.
We LOVED Ismail’s property. The location is superb and the apartment was clean, well equipped and comfortable. Ismail was a very welcoming host and was very helpful.

We liked everything about the property. Our one suggestion would be to include a toaster.

We had some misfortune with the hot water not working. The owner was quick to respond but it was a weekend so no-one was able to fix it. The owner arranged for us to have showers in the empty apartment next door.
Very easy to collect keys and access the apartment. Apartment is in a very convenient location and is nicely set up with everything needed for a short stay. The bedrooms are a nice size and there is a washing machine and a dishwasher. There are plenty of recharge points. Everything was comfortable.

The mattress needs to be replaced.
Beautiful space. Terrace access was lovely. It’s a little off the main streets, so pretty quiet. Everything was really clean. There’s enough dishes to have simple breakfast and snacks. Small table built into the bay window is a bonus.

The water pressure in the shower is not good at all. The temperature adjustment is another issue. Otherwise, the apartment was properly maintained and was clean. Has its own common balcony as well
The property was inside the old town. Close proximity to everything. It was at the middle so easy access to all the gates. Has many restaurants and shops nearby.

Internally noisy with neighbouring apartment partying late at night.
Room was in great, central, old town location. Close to restaurants, bars and attractions. Clean, well-equipped room with modern decor. Comms with Ismail we’re quick and easy.

Nothing to report here, it was lovely.
Excellent apartment, in the centre of the Old Town. Very comfortable, with lovely little extra touches. Highly recommended. The only little thing l would add is that taxi transfers cannot enter the Old Town , so have Google Maps at the ready!
