We had an amazing time at Le Tartarughe. The hosts Silvio and Katja made us feel very welcome from the arrival till the departure. Questions were answered super quickly via WhatsApp. They had a lot of great tips, we’ve followed, to explore on Sicily. The breakfast was exceptionally good, especially the homemade lemon jam and Katjas homemade cakes, everything prepared with love and homemade. The accommodation is very clean and well maintained, and well located. The sea & beach and good restaurants are close by.

Room is large, there is a small fridge, I booked room with own bathroom, which was acceptable and clean. Bed is large and comfortable. Accommodation is near to the train station, which is important as majority of us came to visit Cinque Terre. However, it is not that near historical part of the city. You need a transportation for several bus stops to reach center of city. City is nice and don't miss the opportunity to see it.

Please be very careful about the time of check-in. It is only until 6 pm. After that you have to pay 20 EUR or 30 EUR (depending of arrival time) and this is not written anywhere. This was completely unnecessary because key was in the small key box hanging outside of the building and we could take it easily if we received the code for key box. I tried to contact property several times before coming, but received no response or it came after 48h. The response to my message about code for key box came after I returned home and I was in this accommodation for 2 days and sent email 2 days before coming... Room is very cold and dark (in May this was quite unexpected) and there was only one dirty blanket. I don't think that it is much warmer in summer. There is an air conditioner, but we did not receive remote and therefore could not use it. Telephone that is provided on Booking is not the same as the one on the door. Without calling host, you cannot reach them, as there is no check-in desk. Host (female) was very unfriendly during telephone call and first told me that she does not have any room to rent. 5 mins after this call, I assume her husband, appeared and opened the key box that was hanging on the wall of the building, which we could also easily do if they gave us the code for this box. Taking additional money was completely unnecessary. He was a bit more pleasent and explained that information about additional payment for check-in after 6 pm is not posted on the Booking website. Anyway, I would not use this accommodation in the future.

The proximity to the old city is useful, close to many public transport lines also. Bathroom small but clean. The host provided good explanatory notes of how to reach and enter the room outside of reception times.

Room faced the street, which is extremely busy and noisy. No sound dampening in the room at all. Hardly slept at all whilst I was there. Room is very dark in the evenings, the lights in the room are not very bright. The room cannot be dead locked, and the room is one inside an apartment. This means you have main door being used by everyone staying in the apartment rooms. On one occasion I returned and found the entry to the apartment open, meaning that you are dependent upon other people closing doors. Room also quite old and bed not particularly comfy. I didn’t need to use it, but in case you have fat luggage, it won’t fit easily in the lift, and many people won’t fit in their either if they are overweight.
