Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Netherlands- The breakfast was really basic and not of good quality (dry bread, processed foods). We had to eat somewhere else because the food was too dry. - The mattresses in our room need to be replaced. They slept like a steep hill, very uncomfortable. Like rolling down a hill. One side high, one side low. My wife had pain in her back after sleeping. - Hotel personnel smoking outside of entrance, unavoidable smoke.
- Nice, friendly, helpful staff - Great location in the middle of the Karakoy. Restaurants and bars everywhere. Nice colorful shops. - Great room cleaning service, nice cleaning lady - Quiet gallery room were really quiet. Thanks for arranging that for us. We heard no noise from the outside. - Nice, big room. - The lift broke down, but it was fixed in 24 hours.

IrelandThe noise wasn’t as bad as other reviews made it seem. I certainly had worse in Barcelona. Buy some melatonin in a local pharmacy if you are a light sleeper. Toddler slept no problems
Beds and pillows were softest I’ve ever encountered. I loved this. Shower was excellent. Location is very lively and super close to T1 tram. Would recommend. Staff very helpful and friendly.

SwitzerlandThe breakfast was ok for one day. Turkish style, daily always the same herbs, salads, cucumbers and cheese. After three days we gave up and went to a bakery to get something better.
The quiet rooms were soundproof and no music could be heard. Great comfortable beds, a good hotel bar in a good location. The staff is doing well, nice and friendly people working daily with a smile.

United KingdomBar below and next door play loud music until early hours with very little soundproofing and bass vibrates the building. Very touristic neighbourhood but not far from a better area. Mini bar was ludicrously expensive €6 for 330ml efes. Can go to the Sok down the street and get 6 for the same price. No individual fridge to store items without the risk of being charged for mini bar items. Toilet is less than a meter from the bed if you are shy.
Good location in Galataport and a 10 min walk to Beyoglu. Lovely room. Breakfast was on par with every other Turkish hotel. Short tram ride to Fatih area for Hagia Sofia.

IsraelI liked everything - the underlined features form the orient picture here. You just might take a notice that it's active and sometimes crowded area (locals and tourists as well). small streets, many cafes and restaurants. Buildings are close to each other, so there are cozy inner yards between them
I would rather choose location to stay in Istanbul in Karakoy - as for now it's one of the most comfortable areas for me. 5 minutes walking from a wonderful Galata Port and new Istanbul Modern. The hotel is in the middle of series walking streets with all-the-day activity full of restaurants with different flavors and cuisine, bars, some music clubs. It can be active here and full of sounds (not over-loud but quite permanent in the evenings). Hotel beautifully fits the former old building that is significantly renovated outside and inside. Everything inside is new and up-to-date. Nice breakfast on the ground floor, good selection and traditional food, kitchen can prepare something of your choice. Rooms are not big but they are made cozy with just needed space (but more than in Paris, for example). Staff is very friendly. They have a lot of facilities for your visit.
