Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Fabulous property which was a perfect place to explore the Douro valley. The host Helena and her daughter were extremely welcoming. Breakfast each morning was a feast and served by Helena. The property is spacious, very clean and had all the facilities required for the perfect stay including a hot tub, pool table and honesty bar.

CanadaEverything was perfect, nothing negative to report.
Helena was present to welcome us upon our arrival and to give us the keys to the house and show us how everything worked and where to find everything. Helena is such a wonderful person, so kind and helpful. The house is very comfortable and offers plenty of light from the outside. The view to the vines is beautiful. The house is very clean. The pool table was a plus. There is also a jacuzzi but we did not use. We enjoyed the hearty breakfast in the morning. The kitchen is very well equipped for the preparation of other meals. Lots of hot water and very good pressure. There is a dedicated laundry area on the first floor with full size and separate washer and dryer. This is rare in Europe. We also appreciated the bathrobes and slippers. The restaurants and waterfront are 5 minutes down the hill by car. Car parking was easy. We stayed 1 week and we would come back anytime. The house is centrally located to most of the vineyards in the Douro Valley.

United StatesHouse exceeded our expectations! Helena was very gracious and provided a great breakfast based on our schedule. The house was well appointed, everything you want and expect when traveling, including an extensive honor bar. Highly recommend and hope to come back! Saw many comments about being at top of hill which it is, so having a car was a big plus. Anyone traveling to Douro should expect hills!

United StatesHelena was super friendly, and her home was very clean and nicely decorated. It was large with plenty of space and a lovely family/bonus room on the bottom floor. We had a comfortable family game night downstairs with enough room (and seating) for everyone to spread out. The home is on a steep hill so if you are walking and have a lot of luggage (or are not comfortable with walking up a steep hill), you will probably want to grab a taxi at the train station for the short drive up. That being said, the views from the home are beautiful - looking at the side of a lovely hill with old stone walls. Helena offers wine, beer, and soft drinks in the unit at very reasonable prices - perfect so you don't have to go down the hill and back up for a run to the grocery store. Breakfast was amazing! Helena came over and put out meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, coffee, juices, yogurt, granola, and fruit! It was delicious (and quite filling)! The hot tub is small, so only 2 or 3 at most will fit, and it took about 3 hours for it to heat up to body temp, but we enjoyed a little soak before bed. Overall, a very nice stay and we will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed the hot tub, pool table and big screen tv when not out exploring the Douro valley or the great local restaurants. United KingdomThe only drawback is the location - if you don't have a car it's a real climb up from the station and taxis are few and the drivers lack any notion of customer service. This is, of course, beyond the control of the hosts.
This is a truly lovely house and in immaculate condition. The welcome given to us after a last minute booking was warm anto d charming. Everything had been thought of - from the well equipped kitchen to the well stocked honesty bar. Breakfast was a real tour de force - and far more than we could eat. A fantastic place to stay in the heart of port wine country - and there was a complimentary carafe to welcome us too!

NetherlandsHelena was an excellent and enthusiastic host. Eventhough she doesn't speak English, she makes you feel most welcome. Helena's daughter was of great help with the translation. The apartment is very well maintained, spacious and it was perfect for our family getaway as a family of seven. The apartment offers everything you could possibly need during your stay. The pool table and the jacuzzi were a big success! In the mornings Helena came to prepare a lovely and appetising breakfast. It is located in the pittoresk village of Pinhão with lovely views on the vineyards. We had a wonderful stay!
