Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe beds were very very hard. We were three people, and every bed was hard.
The location was spectacular! Getting to the apartment is up some steep stairs/incline but we knew that. Lovely little bench outside the facility. Incredible town. Very well equipped with coffee, pods, butter, peanut butter, water etc. There were shampoos and soaps.

United StatesThe extremely firm bed mattress
The alleyway to reach the apartment is on a very steep incline. So take your time to catch your breath to reach the top. The location is fantastic. The apartment was located in the center of the village right off the main street of Pinhão. The Churrasquira across the street from the apartments street/alley entrance is fantastic when visiting Pinhão I always eat there. The kitchen of this apartment was stocked beautifully, unlike most where it’s hard to find one sharp knife. The only negative, but I found was a trend everywhere I stayed, was the mattress on the bed was extremely hard/firm.

Fabulous house! We booked this at the last minute on the day of arrival having experienced poor accommodation, which we left early, in Abrantes en route to the Douro Valley. From start to finish, the owner was welcoming, helpful and provided all of the information we needed. Great location, minutes walk from restaurants and attractions in a very quiet area. The house was extremely clean, spacious and well equipped. Comfortable and cosy! The tea, coffee and cakes were most welcome after a long journey up and over the mountains. Would most definitely stay here again. The region is stunning too!!

United StatesEverything was in working order and hosts checked in to make sure everything was good and that we got into the unit alright. No issues.
Perfect spot for our quick stay in the city. Two story townhome with two bedrooms. Great A/C in the room we used. Host provided some muffins, milk, and coffee/tea for breakfast which really helped us out in the morning. Ample room to spread out. Easy to find and key in a lock box next to the door. The unit is on a hill with stairs so may not work for people with mobility issues. Not a problem for us.

United StatesNote that being in the center of town the only access is via a walkway. We were 60 strides uphill from the main street and 100 strides (smaller lengths to adjust to the incline) downhill. That did not diminish our experience.
This was a well appointed entire home with at least two bedrooms, located conveniently in Pinhão. Excellent communication and self-checkin made it convenient. Allowed us to relax and enjoy the locale, and also launder our clothes. The WiFi worked well and the ‘street’ is quiet.

United KingdomTo go up the hill pulling my suitcase by the horrible pavements and uneven steps. It was a mission. Not recommended it for people with mobility issues.
The best house accommodation I ever stayed. Clean, Clean and clean. Everything spotless, all perfect to your stay. Welcome fresh cold water, coffee, milk, biscuits and much more. It is divided into two floors just enough for a couple, small family or single traveller.

AustriaI am slightly allergic, and it felt odd because of the strong smell of cleaning supplies in the beginning. However, opening the windows helped, so it should not be an issue for a longer stay.
The apartment is close to everything (train station, tourist centers, and cafes) and lies on a small quiet street. The rooms are quite spacious, including two bedrooms on the 1st floor, the living room, and the fully equipped kitchen on the ground floor. Each of the rooms has climate control. This place has everything for a longer stay with a family; it almost felt like a waste of opportunity for just one night and two people :)

LuxembourgTo say something, eating when you are 5 in the kitchen is not so comfortable with such chairs/table, but an efficient solution given the space.
Only accommodation during our trip in Portugal where everything was great. We got there during probably one of the hottest days in the valley and opening the door to find that the air conditioning was on was just great. The house has everything you need, and more, for a comfortable stay. Including some edibles for breakfast and oil/salt/species etc. The location is good, close to where you can park the car for free, just few steps up.

United StatesPlease tell guests it will be a bit of a climb off the main street on steps and a significantly sloped street. Someone who has a problem with walking would find it a problem. We were a bit surprised but managed to navigate it after we understood, both in day and night.
This was a charming apartment in a quiet, lovely little town. Everything inside was so nicely set up. The bedrooms were comfortable, the bathrooms clean, the living room was cozy and had a few touristic books and pamphlets. The kitchen was amazing and the hosts left so many thoughtful goodies including little milks and muffins and biscuits in jars. We really felt welcomed. I wish we had more time to use that kitchen! Do beware, there are steps to the bedrooms.

Communication with owner was super quick, he was very helpful. The facilities at the house were amazing - there was food and bottles of water ready for us to use, we were able to do washings (detergent was in the house), the bathroom was stacked with supplies and all rooms were provided with aircons. The house itself was really clean, and the location was perfect, everything was walking distance. Can't say anything else but great value for the money spent! Would definitely come back here.

New ZealandCasa Seixas Batista is on 2 levels in a local pedestrian area of Pinhao, and the owners are so generous with supplies in the apartment – this includes, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, long-life milk, biscuits and lots of other kitchen supplies. We really appreciated these supplies in the apartment as these are definitely not usually provided! The apartment had a large living area, and separate fully-equipped kitchen, and separate toilet on the ground floor, then upstairs was the main bathroom and 2 bedrooms – one with a queen bed and one with 2 x single beds, so 4 people could easily stay here. The kitchen has an oven, 4 electric elements, a microwave and a washing machine, and heaps of pots, fry pans, bowls and plates – everything you need to cook a meal. Aircon units in the downstairs living area and both bedrooms was very welcome in the summer days. Free fast wifi included. Access to the apartment was very straight forward with good communication to provide the digital key code for the lock box. Details of free parking were provided – no parking outside, but very close on the street there is free parking. We would definitely stay here again.

AustraliaNothing we disliked. Worth noting that the house in on a steep, pedestrian lane , so you leave your car on the main street a few minutes walk away , which wouldn’t be ideal with heavy bags or suit people with mobility issues.
Two storey house close to the centre of town. Plenty of space , including a kitchen/dining area , 2 bedrooms, a living room and two bathrooms. It was quiet, comfortable and clean. We appreciated the coffee machine, biscuits and muffins.
