Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe guesthouse was a bit difficult to find the first time, but you could also consider that an advantage. The house on the side of the parking lot is very spacious but a bit noisy in the morning (cars, roosters, etc.), so if you really want to sleep in, it is probably better to have a room on the garden side.
Very nice guesthouse, well maintained, with a beautiful garden and, above all, a very pleasant welcome. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. On the second day of our stay we took a day tour organized by the guesthouse. In retrospect, this was one of the most wonderful days of our four-week trip through Malaysia.

GermanyThe only negative thing was that the bed and pillows were a little uncomfortable.
The hosts were really nice. The house is a 10min drive from the national park but they always brought us there and picked is up. The location is also nice, directly at the river.

NetherlandsOur stay at Balai Serama was amazing. The property is beautiful; the rooms face the garden and the river behind. The garden is like a botanical garden as it has so many beautiful plants. Breakfast and dinner are included. The cook prepares fresh dinner every day and it tastes delicious. We had a lovely and relaxing time in this luxurious guesthouse. On top of this the hosts were very kind. They drove us back and forth to Kuala Tahan (where all the trails and boat trips start) for every activity that we had. I can really recommend this property!

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing - everything was as expected or better.
A sample of true hospitality - the Balai Serama is such a unique and beautiful place, so pleased we were able to stay and enjoy the surrounding area, pretty gardens, and the generous meals on offer at breakfast and dinner. The owners Ijad & Marja are so welcoming and helpful - offering local pickups and suggestions on what to do. Their ‘ tailor made’ full day tour to Kuala Sat was such a fun and informative day, the highlight was trekking through the Orang Asli village and tubing down the river.

Beautiful location by the river. Cosy home atmosphere. Food was very good quality and taste. Hosts very helpful, e.g. running us into village to get park permits in the morning and organising a great day trip to a remote location.

LithuaniaThe location is far away from the activities. There is nowhere to go on foot. Not very convenient if you don't have your own transport. Most probably owners would arrange transport for you. The air conditioner in the room was quite noisy and not very efficient.
Remote (actually in the middle of nowhere) location on a river bank. Beautiful blooming garden. Amazing view from the terrace to the river and the jungle. Very calm. The room is big enough. The bathroom is also spacious. Very clean. Each room has its own terrace. Breakfast is average, but quite varied and sufficient. The dinners were nothing special, but you could choose meat, fish, vegetables - several different dishes. All activities offered in the area can be booked.

United KingdomWonderful , peaceful place on the banks of the river with an amazing covered terrace for breakfast and dinner, and a beautiful garden. The owners could not be more helpful and did everything they could to make us welcome and enjoy our stay. Their day long jungle trekking activity was the highlight and was enjoyed by everyone in our small group and will provide us all with many special memories. One tip is that the guesthouse is a way from the village so if you need extra drinks or snacks, you would be advised to stock up before you go.. Having said that, the guesthouse provides you with a hearty breakfast and dinner so you shouldn't go hungry!

LithuaniaRoom doors to the shower/wc does not have a locker.
I was a little bit sceptical about the included half board option but it turned out to be the best decision. There were quite a lot of options to choose from and it was delicious. Also I usually do not book tours from hotels due to overpricing but it seemed they have regullar price + it was a nice lift forward and backward in a Hilux trunk seats. My family also liked a very nice and maintained tropical garden.

HungaryThe guesthouse itself is a nice building with a well-kept garden, next to a river. It's located outside of Kuala Tahan, but the hosts provide 4WD transport to any activities that you have. It's a much more peaceful place than the area around the park centre at Kuala Tahan. We stayed in the family room, which was a smaller building behind the main one. The room was spacious, clean and very well equipped. The owners of the Guesthouse are very very kind and extremely helpful. Take their advice about your daily activities because they really do know all the best places. We went on a full day jungle trip and it was legendary (also, we were very lucky with the weather). Breakfast was good and dinner was even better. The banana cake they have is almost addictive! We only spent a few days here but had the most amazing experience! I can truly recommend this place to everyone!
