The traditional style room was very atmospheric, especially the lovely open air bath. I also enjoyed the onsens at the hotel. Location is remote by Takayama standards but not really far, especially with the handy rental bike.

SpainMaybe it's not an hotel issue but our mistake that we chose the Japanese style room, it's good to try for a day not 3 days in a row as it's not the most comfortable. Hotel was 15' from train station walking so it's not far but not that close to the market and city center. Staff English wasn't all the time understandable.
Room was so big, staff were nice, facilities were really good especially the onsen, we liked our experience in Takayama and in the hotel. Staff comes everyday at 7pm to put the Japanese bed (futton). They have souviner shop that is huge and has everything honestly.

The housekeepers will come about 7pm to set up the futons for us. They are very fast n systematic. The room is big and clean. The souvenir shop is big and same price as outside. The onsen is clean and has everything you need.

The hotel was 7 - 8 minutes walk from the train station, not particularly easy when you are with your suitcases. However, the hotel offered free shuttles so it was not a problem at all. There is a 7-11 convenience store just 2 minutes from the hotel. My room was in Japanese style, very spacious and comfortable. There was plenty of room for you to move around. The onsens were exceptional. There were two of them. One dedicated for hotel customers, while one opens for day-trip customers. They were not crowded so it was kinda enjoyable to use them.

IsraelThe resort had a very old look to it, like it was designed in the 80s. (Maybe the regular room feel more modern, but the lobby and the dinner hall did not)
We booked the tatami room so when we arrived the room was set up with a floor seating which later was rearranged with mattresses and bedding (while we were at dinner). The room was spacious. The view was very pretty as the town is surrounded by mountains. We reserved the a traditional Japanese dinner when booking the room. Among other things we were served hida beef, which was beyond delicious. Breakfast was also great! The hotel gift shop is huge!! Other than souvenirs and local snacks they sell hida beef! (Frozen and jerky)
