The location is perfect, few mins walk to the central MRT. Room size is good for family of three.

I would liked to have a proper bar where enjoy local beers sake and whiskey, and I suggest to improve the breakfast choice. For a multiple days guest, the asian/Japanese way could be too much. A selection of bread and jam or cereals or eggs in a different way will be appreciated

Great location Great design the new crush in a good way to the ryokan style. Absolutely suggested

No wardrobe space, not much view from the window.

The breakfast and hot bath facilities were the highlights for us.

The building per se is lovely, you can really see the old ryokan style hall and the modern rooms area difference. The onsen is really an added value to the holidays for a proper relax.

Authentic and Good but not Perfect

Washer/dryer is available on site, but they didn't work that well. We found the room could have used just 1 table or shelf at "standard" height. Breakfast was not that good. I was expecting a little bit of a spread. Instead I had to negotiate a steep set of stairs and a small back room with a big drop to grab a beverage and eat what was essentially a bento box. The location is central Kyoto - just far enough from everywhere to require taxis and subways to go sightseeing.

The hotel was more authentic than a Western-style chain. The room was nicely decorated and the bathroom/toilet was amazing. The entire hotel was nicely decorated. The HVAC system worked very well. Guests were quiet. Great refrigerator in the room.

There was quite a lot of hair from the previous tenant found on the floor, could have vacuumed the room better.

Wouldn't take breakfast next time, you have many varieties in the neighbourhood and here it is a bento box. Nice one, but you might not be for one every day.

Excellent smaller hotel just 10mins walking from the main market and in the middle of small shops street. Bit modern area compared to Gion, but great subway connections to anywhere. Big plus, the onsen! After walking 20.000+ steps per day, it saves you.

This is less something that we didn't like and more something to be aware of, the breakfasts are very traditional and whilst beautifully presented might not be everyone's cup of tea if you're used to western style foods.

We absolutely loved this hotel. It had a perfect blend of old and new. The front of the building has beautiful tatami and traditional Japanese aesthetic, whilst the rooms are a good size, modern and comfortable. The staff were friendly, helpful and able to answer any queries we had. The onsen was also excellent and you can use it if you have tattoos. The location was fab, very close to a train station but also easily walkable to a brilliant shopping district. Also, the staff had put a congratulations note on the bed and television as it was our honeymoon which was a lovely touch.

It was a cold breakfast bento style that I ended up not eating, not suit my taste. There were some scratches on the wall but it doesn't matter to me much.

The bed pillows. Much too thick and hard. Prevented me from having a good sleep. Asked for a different pillow; it was different but still uncomfortable.

breakfast is not cheap. but it is very traditional and something you must experience. The atmosphere and the quality of the ingredients at breakfast are truly wonderful. The hotel is very close to the metro, but the metro network in Kyoto directs you to the main station anyway. The rooms are clean, you can take photos in the traditional area at the entrance with the kimonos they give you.

Small things - we would have liked a chair in the room in addition to the loveseat.

We were pleased with the location - on a small quiet street but steps away from a major road with restaurants, convenience store, and taxis. The hotel is centrally located near Nishiki Market and Nijo Castle. The staff is both professional and friendly. All speak some English, and some are quite fluent. They will make reservations and arrangements for you. The rooms are modern and comfortable, and the spa is very nice.

Laundry room is too small. Don’t like the room door swing outside. Some corners in the room have not been vacuumed, including the AC intake grill.

I love the unique machiya house at the front that can be experienced by guests as breakfast and lounge areas. Oh and the library upstairs too!

Room was big enough. Onsen was a real treat after a day out exploring. Loved the self-serve common areas like the bar and the library room.
