Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The view from the restaurant terrace is spectacular, can look out across the Gulf of Naples and see Vesuvius, Procida and Ischia. Delicious caffe latte, excellent breakfast, friendly attentive service. Front desk so nice, easy, warm, with Nonna sitting in lobby greeting and chatting. Loved the gardens in the olive grove. We’ll be back!

United KingdomNothing.
Very clean. Rooms freshened daily. Not fancy bathrooms but clean. Great views of sea and Sorrento. Enjoyed sitting at the window looking at the view. Loved that it was out of the business of Sorrento but close to walk a few times daily. However the walk is up hill and cobbled stoned path so not good for those restricted physically, otherwise not an issue. Enjoyed the various sitting areas around the hotel and the hammocks. Lovely pool area. I don't think the photos on the website did it justice. Delighted with our stay and would recommend.

United StatesThe view was incredible, especially from the outdoor restaurant. The hammocks in the garden were a pleasant surprise and the pool was cute and lovely on a hot day. The downtown area of Sorrento was a short 15-20 minute walk, but if traveling with someone who cannot climb ramps I would suggest taking a taxi. Lovely clean property, friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend this property.

United KingdomMy only criticism is that they are missing a few little touches that other hotels in Italy seem to have (I.e kettles in rooms with complimentary tea and coffee). We also stayed in a room underneath the restaurant which meant getting woken up at 7am by tables and chairs being moved. The shower also wasn’t great! Not ideal but also not the end of the world!
Lovely little old fashioned hotel with some breathtakingly fantastic views. Opposite the entrance are some little gardens with hammocks and various different seating for you to sit and enjoy the beautiful views from this hotel. At night there is also fireflies! They have a little path which is a shortcut down to the town (which takes approx 15 mins to walk). The staff are all really friendly and ahead of our arrival we got sent lots of welcome instructions via booking.com with really helpful information about how to get to the hotel by train, bus, car etc. They also mentioned (handily) that we wouldn’t want to walk to the hotel with our suitcases so glad we took note of that! When we arrived the receptionist showed us around and gave us a map of the town, which was really helpful. The pool is lovely with plenty of sun loungers, complete with a top flap to cover your face from the sun if you wish! I’ve never seen these before anywhere! Fantastic idea! Again, complete with panoramic view! The restaurant (again with a brilliant view) is lovely. The breakfast was quite basic (toast, croissants and yogurt) but nice all the same. The food and the drinks are good value though which is great! There is a nice selection of drinks available. Everywhere is really clean and the maids did a really good job of keeping it that way!

United StatesWe had an excellent stay at La Badia in Sorrento! The grounds were beautiful with the gardens and several areas to relax and enjoy the view. The staff were super friendly and gave great suggestions on where to eat, transfers to the train station and all of our questions. I can’t say enough! We enjoy hiking so the location to town was the perfect amount of exercise.

CanadaThe hill up and down.
The staff were great, facilities were awesome. The only downside is walking up and down the hill each day. If you are staying here I would recommend bringing good shoes.

United KingdomThere was nothing I didn't like, only the fact we had to leave.
This place was just beautiful. It has the most amazing views overlooking Sorrento and has relaxing gardens to just sit and relax and watch the evening sunset on the balcony, sipping a glass of wine or two. The hotel is spotlessly clean. It is a family run hotel, they are all very proud of it, and so they should be. It's just perfect. They made us feel very welcome, so helpful too, they organised our trips to Capri and Pompei. It's just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Sorrento, with a short walk into town of an evening for a lovely meal. Be aware that the walk back to the hotel from town is up a steep hill, not for anyone with mobility issues unless you're going to drive.

CanadaKnowing our arrival time, would have been nice to have our fridge turned on and cold…..couldn’t figure out how to turn on. Bandage on smoke alarm to look at every night in bed and some lights burned out. We stayed for several nights and was getting bored with breakfast, maybe a change every other day would be refreshing. Got used to the walk home but quite a hike…..worth the view 😊

SerbiaThis hotel, without previously knowing me, helped me arrange a special request I will forever be grateful for! Besides, the hotel is very enchanting, elegant, and authentic, reminiscent of rustic Italian haciendas, with many terraces full of plants offering sea views (even breakfast is served on a beautiful terrace directly overlooking the sea) and beautiful gardens all around the property; it's practically an estate. You need to be there to fully experience the vibe, but it is on par with much more expensive accommodations you can find in Tuscany, for example. Our room was cute with a direct view of the sea, Mount Vesuvius, and the Sorrento coastline. Everybody from the staff was incredibly hospitable, dedicated and pleasant. This could be a luxurious 5-star hotel with certain upgrades, but I think it's better to stay exactly as it is, offering authentic experience at a reasonable price.

United KingdomA little antiquated, but we loved that. The walk back for town via short cut is fine much easier than expected. Though we did feel it in our knees by end of holiday. Great way to walk off all the fantastic food you will eat in town.

New ZealandThis hotel was lovely. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. Location was excellent. It is up a hill, which is thankfully noted everywhere, but the bus is super simple and once you've dropped your luggage off, the walk back to town through their short cut is super easy! They have an on site restaurant and bar which had lovely food. Can't beat the service :D

My Friend and I loved everything about this Hotel. The room was the large and very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious everyday we were there for a week. The Staff was outstanding. I found out it is Family owned and several of the family worked there. We even met the owner and she was a lovely Lady and very easy to speak to and so helpful. She was most days sitting in the Lobby. We felt like we were in a warm environment and well taken care of and safe. My friend and I still are talking about this Hotel and how much we loved Sorrento. We want to go back and if we did we would stay at the Hotel La Badia. I just can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay !!!!! Caio for now, Kathy & Caren

ItalyVery minor things that wouldn’t put me off coming again - the bedroom window was very hard to open and close and the wardrobe door got stuck open, that was literally it! Everything else was perfect!
A beautiful property in a stunning location. I went here to relax in the sun and it was perfect. The staff were friendly and spoke fluent English but the place didn’t feel too touristy, a little slice of Italy in an otherwise very touristy area. The pool was still open at the end of October and my room had a gorgeous view of the sea.
