How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Had some mosquitoes in the room, i guess from previous guest because again the room was very clean.
The staff were great with recommendations for food, sightseeing and general questions.The breakfast is fine , and they got a person who makes good coffee

every morning around 3am some heavy machinery was working at the street . If it is one one it’s ok but every single night it is too much . And looks like they are not going to finish this street quite soon

The hotel was fine, the only issue at certain hours was the noise outside because of the roadworks in Florence, which is out of any hotel’s control. The whole city and any hotel would be facing exactly the same situation.
From the moment we stepped into Hotel Gioia, at first somewhat surprised given the noisy roadworks that are going on this year all over town, we knew our stay in Florence was going to be something special. What truly sets Hotel Gioia apart was the customer service. The staff’s attention to detail and genuine care for guests’ comfort made the experience fantastic. Every interaction was a testament to their commitment to excellence. Hotel Gioia is not just a mere place to stay; it’s part of immersing yourself in the local flair, whether you’re here for the art, the history, or the cuisine, this hotel ensures your comfort is always a priority. By the way, after a full day exploring the wonders of this city we would be able to relax in the waterfall shower, their soap nothing short of luxury hotels, an amazing fragrance that lingered on the skin.

From my personal view, the bed was a bit soft with hard pillows but this is personal preference. My room was very close to the reception so it could get a bit noisy also at night. Nevertheless i would stay again at this hotel but I would make a request for a quieter room. The hotel seems newly renovated, purely from an aesthetics perspective, it may be worth to restore the lift, as it is the first thing the guest sees, but it is functional!
Staff were lovely. The room was clean and had a good size, with high ceilings, equipped with TV, wifi and AC unit! The location is very central about 5 mins walk from piazza del duomo, close to the Accademia. The road to the hotel is well lit and safe to walk through also in the evening. The hotel is in an old palazzo but it still had a lift to take you up, reception was at floor 1 (not ground floor).

A lot of road works going on in Florence ATM.so can be a bit noisy in early mornings but that would apply to most accommodations
Buffet breakfast was great heaps to choose from! Would set us up for the rest of the days journey. Coffee was quite good also. Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Hotel was very central to all attractions including train station . Very happy overall

Actually, none. The place and staff were very accommodating. We had to check out early and couldn't have breakfast. We asked the staff if they could prepare sandwiches for us to carry on our way, and the following morning when we checked out, the staff gave us the sandwiches we requested. 🥪😍
Our recent stay was fantastic! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the staff and made to feel right at home. The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, providing a cozy retreat after long days of exploring. The hotel's central location made it easy to discover the city's attractions, metro and dining spots. Overall, our experience was wonderful, and we would definitely stay here again! This is worth the money 👌🏻👌🏻
