How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Nothing! We highly recommend.
Wish we could have stayed longer, this was the perfect place to stay in beautiful Cefalu. The room was clean and beautifully renovated and a fantastic value right in the heart of the old town. Check in and out was very easy and we really appreciated Angelo’s recommendations for parking, the parking discount code, and suggestions of great restaurants. Thank you!

Small space but it was fine for our needs. Beware of the dark entryway and the many stairs - could be difficult for some.
Great location. In the middle of the historic center but well -insulated from the noise of traffic and tourists. Accommodating host, with map and recommendations. Not TOO far from the free parking area.

Travel light. There are 50 steps to reach the apartment but it’s worth it when you get to the top! It’s also a bit of a walk from parking so another reason not to take a big suitcase!
The location is excellent, right in the heart of the old city and really near to the duomo, sea front and plenty of restaurants. The sea view from the bedroom and balcony was a bonus. The apartment was well equipped and really nicely decorated.

No issues with anything.
The accommodation is very near the Piazza Duomo yet quiet and as a solo traveller I felt very safe.Angelo was extremely helpful and carried my heavy case up to the room(at top of building).Room very clean and comfortable bed lovely hot water.At night sat on balcony and enjoyed the atmosphere.

The shower cubicle is too small. Someone large would surely not fit it. There are too many stairs, the upper flight being very steep.
The location was perfect. Just a few metres away from Cathedral & main square. The main bedroom was spacious.

Just be aware there are quite a lot of stairs, but for us this was not a big deal. No complaints :)

The host was very friendly and helpful with recommendations. He met us on arrival. The room is in the centre of town with a small balcony which is great to people watch from. The room is small but all you need. Very comfortable.

The shower is very small (which isn't that unusual for Italy to be honest) but this may be an issue for some travellers. There is no elevator in the building (again, not that unusual for old Italian buildings) but despite this, Angelo was most helpful with our luggage and ensuring we all got up to the room. This may be an issue for some older people or people with excessive amounts of luggage but was ok for our group. There is also a short walk to the apartment on foot as there are restrictions on taxi's and private transfers etc entering some areas of old town. Again, Angelo helped guide us to the apartment and also arranged for our private transfer to collect us on the day we checked out in an easier location for us to walk to with our luggage.
We enjoyed our stay in Cefalu very much. The apartment is located right in the heart of the old town (walking distance to everything) and our host Angelo was most helpful, meeting us on the day we arrived to exchange the keys and help us up to the room with our luggage. The apartment was clean, tidy and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay - including a cold bottle of water the day we arrived, plates / glasses / cutlery, plenty of coffee pods for the coffee machine, serviettes, washing up liquid + sponges etc (much better equipped that most other apartments and airbnb's I've stayed in that's for sure). The air conditioning was excellent, given the heat during September in Italy. The little balcony was also great for morning coffees and lunch outside. The host also suggested some local restaurants and bars for our stay, one of which we enjoyed so much we booked for dinner 2 x nights in a row!

More communication with the host prior to check in would have been good.
Ideal location with a lovely small balcony. Nice host who gave recommendations and helped us to arrange a shuttle to our car which was parked awhile away from the property. Water in the fridge was welcomed. Room was a great size

Shower a little small but that's living in old town Italy. Our family still managed.
Located just 30 metres from the Duomo. Clean and AC worked great plus great views from the two balconies up and down the Main Street.

Too many stairs to get to the room and the small bedroom had no air condition.
The fact that the landlord was there when we came and helped us with our luggage, showed us the facilities, gave us a brochure for best restaurants and was willing to help us if we needed him. Very kind.
