How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

we booked a double room but the 'double' bed was actually two singles pushed together with single duvets. we used the restaurant once for evening meal and food was average at best
We were luck enough to be given a front seaview room, room very large and lovely big bathroom with bathtub - all very clean and well presented. Excellent location right on the promenade about 10 mins walk from Douglas main town and with local bars, restaurants and shops nearby. In May we had no issue parking on the road out front. Excellent breakfast. The beds and fold out sofa bed were very comfortable.

Beds were hard and uncomfortable.Yet it's a sleep well company..... The menu only had one price on but upon paying it was extra for starters and sweet.this added £6/8 per head to the bill

On the fourth floor and woken by kitchen fan startup at 6.30 am. Lift too small for the size of the hotel. Young lady on reception, needs training in customer services.
The breakfast was excellent. The room was excellent, good size with a powerful shower.. Restaurant staff very efficient and obliging.Young man on reception, very welcoming and helpful, also the night receptionist.

The lift was too small, only carrying a maximum 2 to 3 people. The fire alarm, which was a false alarm, went off like one night, but there was no protocol nor roll call when we descended the stairs.
The properly was located centrally to Douglas. It was along the promenade, and the meals were hearty. Pre-ordered breakfast came included and for the dinners we had a choice of 2 to 3 courses, with 2 to 3 meals in each course.

The room could have been cleaned better (some bits on the floors) and the bathroom in the room looked a bit tired and could do with some renovation work

Room on the top floor far to warm even with all the windows open. Bathroom like a sauna.
Lovely position on the long promenade, very clean with a hearty breakfast. Lots of choice. Polite helpful staff.

Bed was not comfortable....we asked for the matress to be turned but it did not happen. Overnight we slid off the bed. Breakfast and dinner satisfactory but nothing more. Sometimes fiddly to lock the door of the room.
Situation on the promenade. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Hotel seems to have been renovated recently. Easy for parking in front.

Not so much 'dislikes' but might annoy some people. We were right above the extractor fan. To be fair once it starts it's not that big a deal. Just when it starts up.
Handy for the ferry and for traveling to other towns. The three day travel pass is a great idea and it would have been good to get that information from staff and maybe some leaflets about places of interest. It was good having the lift. Nice clean friendly hotel. Plenty of choice at breakfast . Only dined in once but nice carvery. Many hotels now have the reuse of towels which makes a lot of sense.

The room was very hot but in general I thought the hotel was very warm .. very steep steps up to the hotel and slippy when wet but good handrails, may not suit people with mobility problems.. evening carvery good was nice but portion sizes not great for the bigger appetite
