Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomFruit salad contained no local produce. The hotel should support local farmers by using strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants etc in the fruit salad. Disappointed to see melon & grapes. Was the egg free range and local? I didn’t eat the full breakfast, because it was unclear whether it was free range British high welfare pork?
Fresh & choice

United KingdomNothing really, a bit pricey but competitively priced
The building is old but well maintained and clean, a short walk from the seafront and town. The room was comfortable and characterful, with accessible parking on site. The staff was friendly and very helpful, and breakfast was great. Will definitely stay here again when in Eastbourne

United KingdomNo aircon (my husband is asthmatic)
Very friendly staff. Upgraded our room to a suite. Own balcony with garden furniture. Huge bed! This is an old building - plenty of period features and also had communal lounges so if you were in a larger party you could meet there. Also had so.e antique items from the period on display in the lounges. Breakfast was great. Tomatoes and poached eggs cooked to perfection! Everything else was cooked well but these are items that aren't always done so well. But they were perfect!

United KingdomIt was a very hot weekend, and without air conditioning it was a little bit warm in my room, but this is a very minor issue as the room had a large window and it was quiet/secure enough to keep the window open.
I stayed for one night whilst racing at Eastbourne Triathlon. The reception staff were really welcoming and helpful to me and others who were racing, allowing us to keep our bikes securely in the hotel, and being very flexible with parking and late check-outs. Not all hotels are as accommodating and understanding, and so I won't hesitate to stay again and/or recommend the hotel to others.

United KingdomThese comments are on behalf of the guest for whom I made the booking as I did not stay at the hotel myself. "Everything was excellent and exceeded expectations. Professional and welcoming staff, comfortable room, great breakfast, ideal location for the beach, coastal walks and Eastbourne's artistic quarter. Bus stops and railway station nearby".

United KingdomCar parking and no lift to the top floor. Also no offer of help to take luggage up.
Food was excellent and served promptly. Staff I met were all helpful. Parking was an issue, I chose this hotel as it had parking but it was full and double parked inthe morning. Had I wanted to get away it would have been an issue. My room 32, was large and comfortable but next visit I would choose a room on a lower floor as I have trouble getting upstairs.

United KingdomIf I had to be really really picky maybe a decor update, but honestly it wasn’t a problem and super clean with good facilities.
The staff at this hotel were friendly and helpful. My room was comfy with everything I needed for my stay, and to finish off, a lovely breakfast with good selection to choose from.

FranceThere wasn’t anything I really disliked
Such a pleasant manager and the staff at breakfast could not have been nicer. My room was very big with a separate bath and shower. So much better than a shower in the bath. Very comfortable bed with four pillows. The locality for my Congress Theatre trip was fantastic. It is probably an old Hotel but I thought it was fabulous. I would definitely book in there again. I managed to lock myself out of my room but the lady cleaner was most helpful in letting me back in!
