How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

No blinds in our room. External landscaping and facade - very industrial. Breakfast could have more choice. Narrow and steep stairs to 2nd floor. Double bed could be exchanged for a queen size.
Clean comfortable rooms. Very friendly staff. Great value for money. Ease of access to Inverness and surrounds.

Not soundproof over the bar/breakfast area and the people in the hall going through the door to the next floor.
It was a quiet location and the breakfasts were huge. Peter was a great host.

Toilet cover would slide off the toilet / taps in the sink were to close to the edge which made it difficult to use the tap.
Staff was very nice and helpful, bed was very comfortable, shower nice and breakfast very good,

This is being a little picky but a bit out of the way because of where I was getting my passengers from. But I left it late to book so my fault for that
First time I've stayed here but very clean and tidy. Staff member that checked me in was very helpful and informative. My room was a good size with a very good en-suite and a comfortable bed. Liked the fact USB charger point in bedside lights. Would stay here again

Not being able to open window because above smoking area. The partying continued well into night. The noise and heat were annoying.

One night stop en route to Orkney Better inside than out. Only complaint was no hairdryer in the room. Otherwise, good value .

Deep tub could be a fall risk. Could use a safety grab bar.
Simple, basic, clean. Peter the host and owner was very hospitable. Staff friendly and helpful. They made the stay very nice.

Maybe the exterior (building and parking) could need clean work. At first view people could think this is not a good place to sleep, but it is really a good hotel.
Loved the "vintage" vibe of this hotel. Despite the age-looked exterior, everything was clean inside, we slept very well and the owners were very pleasant. Thank you

Thin walls. Noisy hotel. When in the room you could hear everything from the bar en noises in the corridors. Unfortunately people have become selfish and don’t consider other guests who go to bed earlier after a whole day’s drive Bar was supposes to close at 10pm but noise until midnight. Did’t get much sleep

Food was delicious and very generous. The gentleman who looked after us was wonderful. Helpful with advice on things to do above what we had planned with his extensive local knowledge.

Far from Inverness if you are taking the bus (they don’t pas very often and are quite expensive)
Great host, great food at the restaurant very spacious room and heating/cooling systems available and working well.

The beds were a little too soft, so a matrass that could be somewhat 'stiffer' would be better for the average guests. Further the water cooker could be replaced in our room (nr 3). Further to that all good!!
When we arrived, we thought it was abandoned, but the moment we stepped in, and Peter welcomed us we felt at home. This gentlemen deserves all gratitude and what an excellent host. It is hard not to like this man. Although all that is offered is basic, it is good in terms of quality, rooms are clean, towels are fresh, and the shower is good. It is just Peter that makes the difference! Just book and experience it yourself!! We love Peter!!

It’s just out the city of Inverness, and it’s easy to travel from north south east or west. The evening meal was great. One of the best fish & chips I’ve had.
