Great location in the center of the old town! Walking distance to the Royal mile and Edinburgh castle. Friendly staff with lots of hostel activities. Small guest kitchen with stove and oven if you want to make your own food. Our hostel room was tidy and clean.

For some very odd reason, if you're staying in a dorm, they don't leave sheets on the bed ready for you, nor do they give them to you at check in unless you specifically request it. This makes no sense as of course people are going to need their bedding! I didn't know this and so ended up arriving late at night, going straight up to the dorm and sleeping on a blue plastic mattress with duvet and pillow but no sheets, pillow cases or duvet cover. Surely do what every other hostel I've ever stayed in does, and leave sheets on the bed?

We were supposed to have 2 single beds and a bigger room but we got 1 bunk bed and a really small room. They said it was all booked at that time, but I thought that what reservations are for.

As previously said it wasn’t very clean. The staff wasn’t very helpful and not very polite. We booked for a twin room because in the pictures it had two single beds but since they regularly ran out of those rooms they put us in a 2 bunk beds room. Even if it was just for us it was not what we paid for nor what we wanted. There was no way of changing.

The environment was great. It offered a nice bar for the evening and a restaurant. The beds were very comfortable even tho the sheets weren’t very clean and had stains. The location was absolutely great.

Beds were not too comfortable, but ok for a 1 night stay, esp taking into account the cost per night (very affordable). Maybe it is a good idea to mention that this is also student accommodation so it is very busy and noisy, which wasn't a problem for us just came as a surprise.

Our room overlooked the outside pub garden and the noise continued and kept us awake well into the early hours of the morning.

Only because I'm working in 3 jobs I need peaceful and quite atmosphere. As peaceful as it was during my stay it was definitely not quiet: some other guests where running down corridor few times during night, other accommodated in the same dorm as me were not that loud but random shouts or loud talking which I could hear from other rooms together with that ,, running people" actually interrupted my sleep more than couple times during night

The staff on the front desk weren’t great. Couldn’t even answer the simplest questions. It was a big deal getting a fitted sheet for the bed. Only places I have stayed where I had to make my own bed and buy a towel.

The location was brilliant! Booked a 10 bed dorm, got a 6 bed. Common area was lovely, beautifully decorated and clean. Bathroom and shower in the room were great. Luggage storage before check in and after check out was amazing. Honestly made the trip more enjoyable been able to leave the bag and go exploring.
