Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt's a B&B, it should have butter or at the very least margarine to go with the breakfast. Walls were very thin. I could hear next door open her makeup bag. Decor a bit dated!

United KingdomThe room was very small with no wardrobe, only a coat stand . The bathroom was minute - the sink was tiny. There was total lack of soundproofing so the occupants of the adjacent room had their tv on till midnight on two of our three nights stay and we could hear every word. There was supposed to be a 10 o’clock curfew on noise but it wasn’t reinforced.
Parking, location and ability to prepare our own meals.

United KingdomThe bathroom was a pretty basic add on to the room. The sliding door didn’t entirely fit, and therefore was poor sound insulation, also could hear our neighbours quite clearly. It was a little basic for the price.
It was close to the town. There was a kitchen and sitting room available to use.

SingaporeWas very upset that the toilet, though private is not an ensuite bathroom. So, it is quite inconvenient to go toilet at night. The walls are thin partictions. So, when you close and open the doors and unlock them, it is very noisy.
The place is very clean. Bed is okay but the room is very small. The bed is parked to the side so one person has to climb in and out.

United KingdomThe host lady was pretty indifferent and as didn't speak English there was no dialogue except brief showing of room and kitchen, Although called a Guest House it was basically a hostal or room in a student type house. There was a very basic breakfast of sorts offered - 3 indifferent cereals. Several half jars of jams etc left out in kitchen (Not sure how many people would have dipped into them) and a toaster but visitors had to supply own bread. We were told we could use kitchen to cook in which some people might be glad of but we didn't risk it and went to the many eating places in Portree.
Location was very good - short 10 mins walk from centre of Portree Room, was clean although basic. Few tea bags and kettle in room but no coffee or anything else to make it a bit more appealing.

United Kingdomwas a little confused at first on how breakfast worked however once the owner explained that the guest house is self catering and that cereal was provided as a good will, we completely understood. only recommendation would be to have a guest book in each room explaining what’s included and what’s not to save confusion as the lady who showed us around didn’t speak great English, however over all good stay
the freedom to bring your own food and drink owner provided free milk for drinks private bathroom close walk to town free parking owner friendly and had time to talk to us

Belgiumthe mattress was longer than the bed so you could not tuck in your duvet because it didn’t have a tuck in strip and was not very long. For people who don’t need that you’d be fine. No bathmath. You had to take of shoes at the entrance but I’m traveling with 70+ who are not that agile anymore and we were fully loaded with our lugage.
it was on walking distance from the city center and in a quiet neighborhood. Selfcatering, first breakfast cafe opens at 8am (be there in time cause it was fully seated within 5 minutes). Others all open at 8:30 or even 9:00. local hotels don’t take in visitors for breakfast only. Or buy your breakfast and eat in the kitchen of the house
