How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Nothing, everything was just fine.
It was cosy and clean. The woman was very friendly. Location was excellent for walking into the town ( 2 minutes )

Didn’t like we had to remove shoes at front door.
Location was good. Nice warm shower. Free parking. Use of the kitchen. Tea making facilities. Warm room.

It's a shame there's so many signs up about rules, ruined the cosy homely feel of the place. The late check in was accepted (and very much appreciated by us due to road closures) but then my husband was told it wasn't usually what they allowed when we arrived and so made us feel unwelcome.
Lovely place, has everything you need, wonderfully kept and comfortable.

The location is a bit away from center and have to climb uphill. Is good for self-drive, but bad for travelling with big trolley bags.
The room is clean and nice. Good facilities.

We booked the double bedroom with private bath. The bathroom is large with tub and shower. It is located adjecent to the bedroom. A plus for this guest house is the kitchen which all guests may use to store their food and cook.

It’s at walking distance from the center, with Alle the facilities you need. Special mention to the shower, which was the best in Scotland so far!

Everything was good. It is a lovely house. We share the house to other guests , but we stay in a private room and bathroom (outside the room, but we have a key to close the door). There is a kitchen and a complimentary breakfast. The staff (who is the owner of the house) was very kind.

Small parking lot but still sufficient

Paper thin walls, you could hear everything happening in the other rooms. But everyone was quiet so it was ok

We could hear our next door talking and moving around the room but the 'Quiet' policy between 10pm till 9am helps a lot and we had a good sleep through the night.
We spent 2 nights here in a comfortable twin bedroom with private bathroom (we're in room number 3 in the front of the house). There's TV in the room but we didn't watch it. Kitchen to share and there are tea/coffee/chocolate drinks, cereals, butter, jams, breads, biscuits - just help yourselves. Location is good with private parking on the premise. Many good restaurants at walking distance if you manage to get a table. Our hosts are nice and friendly. They gave us advice about the surroundings.

I didn't expect it was so full of people, the house is shared with others and I could hear every morning the boiler if someone was making coffee in the kitchen. Also we ran out of toilet papers, there was no stuff so we couldn't ask anyone. That was a bit disturbing.
Amazing room, clean and with everything we needed, the bathroom as well. Small but very comfortable and nice with TV included. Breakfast was even more amazing, the stuff gives you everything you need every morning.

we where on motorcycles, the rooms had very little hanging space for gear, but that’s a small point.
clean,good location, walking distance to pub, restaurant etc. made welcome, lovely rooms, use of the kitchen with plenty of supplies.
