Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyConsidering the age of the building, the floors are uneven and creaking and the doors make quite some noise. Not necessarily something that bothered us, but if you're a light sleeper, you will hear the neighbors moving around.
Interesting old-time manor in the near of Canterbury, green quiet area, peaceful gardens. The room was large, with soft beds and cozy overall feeling, the bathroom was also spacious enough. Breakfast offered enough options to choose from and we enjoyed the pancakes and the English veggie ones. Gave the right feeling of spending a night in the English countryside in an aristocratic way.

United KingdomWe had an evening meal once but it was very disappointing and overpriced.
Our room was clean and comfortable with a pleasant view of the garden. The staff were very helpful and there was a wide menu for breakfast. The hotel is well situated for exploring Canterbury and the coast.

United KingdomThe history of the house was extremely interesting and informative about the long history of the location. I think it would be welcomed by many guests if there was a full printed version available to take away either at no cost or for a modest sum such as 50p. A small suggestion for improvement!
This is a very convenient location either for exploring Canterbury or as a break on the way to destinations elsewhere in Kent. The room was well equipped with the inclusion of two chairs particularly welcome. In too many hotels it is necessary to sit on the bed or a hard desk chair. The grounds offer the opportunity for short walks . The meals we had were good too.

United KingdomA very nice stylish hotel in a green and quiet environment, a bit out of city centre, but only 7 minutes away by car. I liked the old-style interiors of the manor house, even the squeaky floors, it all had a nice flair to it. Very polite staff and the best cooked breakfast I have ever had in a hotel of this category.

United KingdomWe had a ground floor bedroom. It did mean that people walking around the grounds and children Easter Egg hunting ,could peer in, so we had to close the curtains at times. My only other slight niggle, was that the bar closed at 9.30 pm. After returning after a meal out, we had hoped to get a couple of drinks in before we went to bed.
Beautiful setting and the room was clean and comfortable. Lovely breakfast with a good variety of menu.

United KingdomThe room was in the old part of the building and found it quite a way to get there through all the passages and doors. Floor was very uneven and creaked a lot. Used to a firm bed so found the bed way too soft, but managed.
Breakfast and dinner was great, plenty of choices, well presented and very tasty. Room was comfortable and clean and had all that we needed. Nice grounds and in a quiet location, although close enough to Canterbury for a quick drive. The staff were very friendly and extremely accommodating - nothing was an issue for them. Would recommend this to others. If we go again, I would ask to stay in the newer part. Did enjoy our stay there.

United KingdomThere was too much grey paint everywhere and the decor was a bit soulless. The main course of dinner was delicious but the soup in particular was decidedly average.
The service was good and although the room was small it was comfortable and the shower room was spotless if a little dated. Breakfast was good but dinner was average. We loved the location and the history of the building although the decor needed work.

United KingdomI liked everything. If had to make a criticism, would only be that the walls between rooms are a little thin so could hear next door sometimes but that can’t be helped!
