How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

6am window cleaners at building across from he road. Not our hosts fault but ear plugs would have been a help.
Self catering but it was a bonus to have tea, coffee & milk. Lots of space & comfy beds.

It was an Aparthotel and there was no seating as such in the room. DVD was missing a cable and this wasn’t fixed during the stay.
Location, kitchen and bathroom. Parking was also good even though it was at extra cost.

Shower head impossible to keep mounted, had to hold it.. the water pressure was great though. Fix that shower head and you have a near perfect shower!!
Close to Royal mile.. nice to have a kitchenette and a washer/dryer combo..

The water power of the shower head was not strong enough. So we struggled to use the shower. Also, the window in the living room could not be closed, so it was freezing in the morning. Maybe there was something wrong with the way that we opened it.
The location is a 10-minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley station, where lots of tourist attractions are located. So it is very convenient to live here if you come to Edinburgh. The room is great for 4 people and also has very reasonable price. We love it here.

The remote for small TV was broken, no mugs or glasses in kitchen or instructions for appliances - muddled through but the little details would have made a difference

The view. The shower wasn't great for power could be improvement. Non existent WiFi.

Instructions for things like heating were out of date. WIFI didn’t reach into living room/kitchen.
Fantastic location and the flat itself was spacious and comfy! Well equipped kitchen too.

Both times bedroom window didn't close and we stay in diff rooms each time. Very dated. Kitchen cupboard broken, bathrooms grubby and old and just outdated.
2nd time staying here. Was comfyand great location good value for money.

The location was odd - everything around us felt deserted after dark including Royal Mile. It is quite a walk into the city centre.
Staff were wonderful - friendly and helpful. Apartment was great - comfortable and well-furnished.

Some of the staff members looked like they did not want to be there and it made it super uncomfortable when talking with them. Our bed was two singles combined but they weren’t properly attached in the middle even though we kept asking for them to attach the beds together. We would find they hadn’t done it so the beds would slide apart and there would be a big gap in the middle. Really not great. House keeping didn’t change our sheets once and we stayed with you for a week. The shower would run out of hot water after some time and there were multiple occasions when either me or my partner had to end our shower using freezing cold water - not nice at all.
I loved the location of the hotel as well as the facilities in the room! The kitchen was the perfect size and had everything you needed. Bathroom was a good size too and the room was clean.

Travelled with my dad so enough space for both of us. Location was great - easy access to the Royal Mile and tourist attraction. Kitchen was well equipped for two people allowing us to have b/fast and dinner comfortably. Wasn't expecting the dishwashing and washing machine detergents which was a massive bonus.

Great location. Clean room. Room had fridge and cooking facilities. Bathroom spotless. Staff on desk helpful with directions, info', etc and even provided a city centre map. Very happy with stay.
