Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was a wedding on the night that we stayed and the pounding music from the function room was incredibly loud from 3pm when we checked in. At 9pm I called reception and asked if we could move rooms. The man from reception was very helpful and understanding and moved us to the floor above. The music could still be heard but was nowhere near as bad and we were very grateful. The first room was a bit run down, however it was clean and the bed was comfortable and we would have been perfectly happy with it if it wasn't for the noise. The second room was much better. It must have had a bit of a refurb. And again, it was very clean and comfortable. We would stop here again providing there was no function on the same night or if we could be guaranteed a higher floor away from the noise.
The staff were brilliant. Check in / out was quick and easy. The bed was comfortable. The location is perfect. Just a short walk from the train station, Ilkley moor and the town centre.

United KingdomBedrooms look dated and tired, especially the paintwork in the bathroom. Breakfast was not cheap, at least £12 each, however the quality did not match the cost. More staff are needed as the barman doubled up as the receptionist on a Friday night, and the breakfast waitress doubled up as the receptionist on Saturday morning! Also I had paid for breakfast when I booked but on arrival they charged me again stating I hadn't paid. As I had driven 280 miles I was in no mood to argue and so paid. However, i took a screenshot of my booking and later showed it to reception and they refunded me. Not a too hotel you would return to unfortunately as it could be really nice.
Convenient to local areas, kerb appeal, room size, value for money.

United KingdomThe decor of the room was a little tired although clean, however the plumbing needs upgrading as toilet was a macerator which did not work very well. In general bathroom was very tired.
Staff friendly, location good. Hotel allowed us to park our car there for the week that we were walking the Dales Way for a small daily fee which was great.

IrelandThere was a slight musty smell in the room and the window could not be opened to air it. The AC sounded like an industrial fan. The view was not great, but not expected as at rear of hotel. Not many staff and had to use a call button to find them
Bed was comfy, good location, close to local attractions, room overall was clean and was more than I needed for an overnight

United KingdomThe shower was a bit hit and miss - hot one minute, cold the next. It is a shame that the leisure facilities are now closed.
Our room was very comfortable and spacious with a nice view of the garden. The extra large bed was very comfortable. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. There is plenty of car parking available free of charge. We would return, mainly for the quality of the room.

United KingdomLooking out of the window was a ledge that was covered in rubbish, old wooden crates & plastic that looked like it had been there a long time. This should be removed & some plants in pots out there instead to replace the eyesore that is there now. There was no one at reception at approx 17.30 last Fri. There was a small note to say to press a button but nothing obvious anywhere near the note I was later told the button was on what looked like a phone charger on the desk, however the button was not marked. I was told not to press it as it made a loud noise. What kind of reception is this? It should be manned continuously. Dinner menu was not very appealing & the bistro had no atmosphere, so 5 of us who were guests at the hotel ate elsewhere
My room was large & bright

United Kingdomthere is not much choice for an evening meal. when ordering, the waiter guessed at the soup of the day and said it was tomato soup, but instead turned up with a green soup of some king. his reply was... ho, looking at the green instead of red, so its not tomato soup and walked off. when the main meal arrived, the spicy chicken was overcooked and really dry
the breakfast was a full english buffet option with alternative choices

United KingdomBreakfast poor tables not cleared and no glasses or cups out had to ask for both. Breakfast some items empty dishes. Rooms were dated and the when the people in the room above ours walked if sounded like they were about to fall thro the ceiling. Insufficient staff for numbers of guests that weekend. An alarm went off each morning like a fire alarm. The noise on the night from an event below our room.
