How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Our room was in a very poor state. It was clean but had a terrible stained wall from a water leak.

My only issue was the sofa bed which isn't very comfortable and nearly collapsed when I sat on the end

Hot breakfast wasn't brilliant, black pudding cut into halfs, thin and cold, hash browns were cold. Rooms look a bit tired, Air con really loud, couldn't use overnight.
Ease of checking in, location, staff friendly. Choice of continental breakfast. Shower powerful. Bed comfortable.

The bath was very small for grown ups...just a suggestion that you put in your description the size of the bath so your customers are aware!

Pillows were very uncomfortable. The filling had matted into small balls making it very uncomfortable to sleep on. We asked for a change of pillows and the replacements were no better. The duvet had seen better days and the divet cover was bigger than the duvet which also meant uncomfortable sleep.
Convenient location for town, attractions and station. Very good choice of food at breakfast.

Receptionist's attitude
location is excellent, room was fine, breakfast a bit expensive. Some of the receptionists could be a bit more pleasant, ,my daughter found a credit card outside the hotel handed it in and first thing receptionist said was you might have to take it to the police station if not on our property/a resident? It was just outside the hotel, she did say thank you eventually. The young man on reception seemed to be the nicest.

Restricted range for children meal. Children can be picky eaters. It would have been a perfect menu if it was a one-off. Became boring after 2 nights. However, very tasty. The meals we would have wanted for dinner, were not included for half-board. So next stay, I would be paying for breakfast alone , and getting meals from near-by. Compared to the Sheffield Holiday Inn which we stayed in recently, the hotel has no children play area. My 8 year old asked me to feedback this point. Room beddings may need changing. Torn duvet covers alongside stains, were noted on the couch beddings.. I would come back again. Overall experience was good.
The staff at the restaurant and bar were lovely. Housekeeping staff for level 3 rooms were quite helpful. Excellent location.

A broken castor/leg on the bed divan; the worst digital TV picture I have seen for a while (I had to set the day/time to get the programme guide to display); a dangerous and very wobbly ironing board which did not match the stowage so it might not be the one that is usually there? The room was nice and clean except for the TV which had a dirty screen and the frame was very dusty.

The doors were banging outside my room in the morning which woke me up

Room 9 was a terrible disappointment. We stayed here in early April and enjoyed it so much that we decided to return to the same hotel for another break. Problems with Room 9:- No heating; No coat hangers; Drainage not working in the shower- water was running over the sides so shower out of use; sink would not hold water. Also, the restaurant oven/s causing problems on previous visit and on this visit just the same. (Apparently the fault was going to cost £5k, so too expensive to repair. This meant that several items were removed from menu)

Our sleep was disturbed on the second night by loud talking by men in the bedroom above us. This carried on until around 6 am in the morning. Not really the hotels fault, especially as I didn’t report it to the overnight reception staff.
