Bed was advertised and booked as a "double", but was actually two singles pushed together, with a big ridge in the middle where the two mattresses met - not comfortable. Hotel itself very quiet, but some late night noise from the streets outside.

Attractive hotel set around an old courtyard, in the centre of the city.. Large en-suite bathroom with bath.

The hotel has an extremely small carpark, which needs to be prebooked and paid extra for.

A unique hotel - part very old indeed. Our room had sloping ceiling and floor and a heavy 4 poster bed! We also had a strange very long narrow bathroom which was well equipped bathroom with both bath and separate shower. Hotel was good and changed our room to one which was more accessible when I emailed and said I was now using crutches after an accident.

Althought the hotel is old it does not mean it can not be in better condition. It can be done without losing medieval flair. Maintenance of the hotel is not so good. The coridor has old carpet and is not vacumed everyday. The hotel requires some painting and the smell on the coridor from a kitchen is not a nice experience. Breakfast could definitely be better for that price.

The location of the hotel is great. Walking distance to the center.

I understand that many guests go out for the evening, and therefore it is not practical to open the dining room. But if the bar is continually used for eating, more tables and chairs should be at appropriate heights. The menu is a good bar menu, rather than a treat restaurant version. None of this would be a problem if it is advertised accordingly. Unfortunately, our room was right above the entrance, so very noisy with a series of late night revellers returning. And it peaked after 2am with the occupants of the next door suite shouting and arguing, and a long delay before the night porter intervened.

The courtyard entrance was very welcoming, and uplfting. The interior was attractive and in keeping with the old building. All the staff were very pleasant, and a male receptionist was very helpful when we brought forward our reservation by one night. We really enjoyed the main course and desserts we selected for our evening meal.

The room was OK. It had all you needed. Could definitely do with a makeover.

Great location as I needed to be at the Guildhall which was only a four minute walk away. Bizarrely the receptionist hadn't heard of the Guildhall. Overall the staff were very friendly and helpful

Decor in need of a touch up

Very good full English breakfast with cereals, fresh fruits & yoghurt & Danish pastries available. Good selection of fresh fruit juices but did have to ask a member of staff to re-fill the tea pot even though there wasn't that many guests at breakfast. Bedroom spacious with good sized bathroom & very clean & comfortable.

It's like so many things in the UK unfotunately overprized. No pay tv, no fridge, no microwave.

It's nothing special. It has a tv and a hot shower. The building in itself is very old and accordingly nice. It's in the centre of the city.

WE were in a room that was a comparatiovely lengthy journey away from receptiion through the `rabbit warren` of the various old loinked building, It required climbing and descending 4 or 5 stair cases and as my wife needs a walking sctick to get about,, we were devising ways to minimise the number of journeys that we had to make each day between the bar. restaurant etc and our room. It was just tedious. No light above the bathroom mirror and very little room to hang or place clothing etc.

It`s an old building with interesting features and competent staff. Excellent position within the shopping area of the city, but a good way away from the cathedral, the main draw for tourist, but judging by the other clientele thsi was not a problem for them
