Bathroom door was a bit iffy and we struggled to close it. The bathroom in general was a bit old and could do with being updated.

Background music in the bar was terrible radio station despite it being Christmas. Boxing Day evening buffet was limited and expensive . Disco and DJ came to celebrate Christmas and Boxing Day but the few guests were all of a certain age and did not participate, where a pianist would have been better. Also I got the impression that there was some miscommunication between kitchen staff and reception and times when the restaurant/ kitchen was understaffed.

Great location. Spacious characterful bedroom which was well- serviced and friendly helpful staff. Christmas Eve diner and Christmas Day lunch were really good.

My room was noisy as it was over some sort of generator & near the binstores which were collected just after 5 am. That happens, the building has to run. There was a load of crazy banging sometime after midnight though, probably 2ish. Sounded like someone trying to get in. That was the only thing that was annoying, otherwise all good. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely hotel, nice room, not luxurious, but very comfortable. Very comfortable bed, great location & a beautiful building. Staff were nice & friendly, but the systems were down. Thankfully I had prepaid. Well located for a walk to the Cathedral.

    As mentioned above

We have stayed at the hotel back in 2016. The hotel is really nice, the old features makes it warm & cosy. The staff were very friendly & accomodating. The breakfast was really nice & plenty full too. I think a little more needs to be done regarding the cleanliness of the place if I'm honest, bar area mainly as the smell of stale beer & sticky uncleaned / unmopped floors isn't a good experience. The beds were not made for 2 nights of our stay with shower gel ect not replenished either in the bathroom. There were a couple of Xmas parties going on so staff might have been a factor here, but non of it took too much away from our stay. The overall experience was really good & would not deter us from staying again in the future. Thanks Guys.

The night of the xmas party we found the drink selection to be poor but we made it work. The plumbing system in the suite was awful! Just cleaning my teeth the water would sit in the sink for a mi ute or two before finally going down the plug. The toilet blocked just having a wee. I think this is just down to the age of the building though so nothing can be done to rectify it. We couldn't shower as the towels smelt not clean. We didn't bother asking for more as we had to check out. The breakfast was not great, we kept having to ask for things eg butter for toast, sugar for tea, water, the continental looked like it had been out all day as the meat was a brown colour. The toast was burnt. This is not what i expected for a high end hotel. The WiFi did not work in our suite.

The twin room was a suite so we were pleasantly surprised. It is oldy worldy but it is nice. The Xmas party and disco was great on the Friday night.

The boiler broke down on the coldest night so far this year and left us without hot water. Also there was a problem with our restaurant reservation.

The location and the historical building. Also the staff who were all helpful and coped admirably in a difficult situation, notably Laz and the reception staff.

We knew there were no lifts but the stairs going up to the top floor where our room was were taxing. We paid for parking but the spaces were too small for our car . Should have been warned about this in advance. Sink plug was difficult to use and janmed.
