Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRoom was two floors up and no wifi in rooms. Had to come down to the courtyard or hotel to get a signal. Complementary package quite stingy. No biscuits and they should not state in the welcome pack that bottled water is provided when it is not. Worst aspect of the room was the bath/shower which I found positively dangerous. The bathroom ceiling was quite low and the fixed shower head was above the bath. This means that when you are standing in the bath, if you are any more than about 5'9" you can't stand under the shower head. This is a problem because there is no non-slip mat and the bath only has a very small "non slip" patterned area right beneath the shower head. It is no more than about 12" (300mm) in diameter. This means that if you are more than average height you have to stand away from the non-slip area and bend over to get under the shower head. I resorted to putting a hand towel in the bath to stand on to prevent slipping but this is also far from safe.
Excellent location in the centre of Salisbury. Lovely courtyard with very friendly and healthy looking black cat with half of one ear missing. Main part of the hotel has comfort and character. Rooms are basic at best but clean enough.

United KingdomWe had the cheapest room so not surprisingly it was on the small side and in a remote part of the hotel, but still more than adequate. Superb shower.
A pleasant historic hotel in the city centre. Good value.

United KingdomOnly staying one night ,was not going to make a fuss ,but we were concerned at the very grubby state of the shower head.(Room 20) As you know this could be a source of Legionnaires Disease, so hope by now this has been attended to.
Location excellent. Liked "Old Worlde" style of hotel and bedroom.

United KingdomParking isn’t ideal but given the location there isn’t any other options.
We have stayed here on 3 occasions now and it’s a perfect location to be able to visit Salisbury and then wind down and relax in the lounge with a meal and drinks. Always a good nights sleep and then a value for money breakfast. We always leave content and wanting to stay again asap

GuernseyThe bedroom and the corridors were damp, with the room itself having very little air flow as the window couldn’t be opened, though the bed and bathroom were good. We had no wifi in the room either - perhaps other rooms are much better in the hotel as we were the furthest away from the main building. The breakfast was also so so - would recommend having breakfast in one of the many great places in Salisbury instead. Overall we’d expected a little better for our money.
The hotel is perfectly central to the cathedral and city as a whole, and the history of the hotel is fascinating! Despite being on a main road, it was surprisingly quiet at night, and the staff were lovely at all times and very helpful. The bathroom and the shower was also great and the bed was comfortable.

United KingdomIn the room, the cafetiere was dirty. The breakfast experience was poor. Items were missing or dirty (we were first ones at our table). While we appreciated the breakfast, unfortunately the coffee was undrinkable and the poached egg was completely hard and had an overpowering taste of vinegar, so we couldn't eat that either. Also, toast was listed with the full English and we didn't get any. The TV had hardly any working channels.
The overall presentation of the hotel was great and the room was very quiet. The location was perfect. We felt safe and the staff were helpful. They were able to store out luggage while we went out and about after check-out.
