The spa opening times didn’t allow me to visit due to my work schedule. If it was open earlier, it would have been better for me.

The garden spa could do with a heated and more sheltered part for rainy and colder days, fire pit was not turned on and we found it cold being out there for a while when not in the hydrotherapy pool. Service at dinner was slow but the food made up for it, there was a large group of people there at the same time.

Lovely room and spa, staff were very friendly and helpful. Spa very modern and clean and we found our treatments great and very relaxing. Dinner was lovely and the restaurant and bar were also great.

i had dinner in the restaurant and they charge 3.50 for sauce to go with main meal , which i feel was unnecessary, . i am still waiting for a refund for a spa treatment to come through, even though the original payment went through immediately.

Fan in the bathroom was very noisy. Power outlet in bathroom was not working properly. Breakfast was mediocre.

Cosy premises, large rooms, nice staff. Rooms are nicely decorated. Did not use the spa but it looked really nice.

We stayed in room 6 for our first night and whilst the decor and room facilities were great, unfortunately it’s right over the main entrance and you can actually feel the bed move when the front door slams, this wouldn’t be so bad if there wasn’t a wedding party going on until 02:00 on the first night of our stay. Fortunately the staff were wonderful and moved us to a quieter room for our second night.

This is a property with a lot of character in the main building and spa, lovely grounds and orangery. The spa pool was a perfect temperature and made for a great morning even when raining! The food in the restaurant was good, particular highlights were the pate starter and the lamb main, the wine selection isn’t vast but is very reasonably priced. Lee is a star in the restaurant and bar.

    Comfortable business stay

As a solo female traveller on business, I am used to eating alone in 5* and fine dining restaurants all around the world, and disappointingly despite the restaurant being virtually empty, I was seated at the very end of the restaurant in a separate section which i think is where they set up the hot plates for breakfast..? It's a pet hate of mine that restaurant staff assume that people dining alone must be seated out of sight of everyone else, but I'd had a long drive and was hungry so didn't want to make a fuss. The roman blind in Room 19 broke as soon as I pulled it down, so I had to use some of the bed cushions to block out the street lighting coming through the bottom of the blind. The blind was fixed quite quickly after I told reception.

Hotel Bar and seating area was cosy with a real fire on (I stayed mid February). Main restaurant is a good size and nicely furnished. Staff were good, my room was a good sized double and had everything I needed for a 3 night stay. I tried the Garden Spa on the 3rd evening - I was initially refused entry because they had the max of 10 people in the jacuzzi, but after making a bit of a fuss saying that it was my last night and I just wanted a quick chill out before dinner, I was given a robe, slippers and key for the digital lockers. The jacuzzi was lovely, its enclosed by garden walls so is very private, with seating/tables and loungers around it. As it was February the water was lovely and warm I didn't sit outside but I imagine it would be nice in the summer - there is also a bar in the spa reception. I didn't have any treatments or use the gym, just wanted the chance to relax and switch off on my last evening.

The only issue was a very loud visitor in the lounge/bar area during the daytime who seemed to know the establishment and come and go as a semi resident/permanent fixture. He was loud and quite disruptive and if he was known to the hotel, we felt he should have been spoken to as he did spoil the atmosphere for a large spell of time. This aside, it was a pleasant stay.

Perfect place to stay for a working meeting with a business colleague. Relaxed and friendly, a nice informal atmosphere in the bar/lounge area, made us feel really welcome and at home. Helpful team of staff. Pleasant atmosphere and feel to the very nice surroundings - both inside and out.

Mattress wasn’t great - very soft. Shower tray hasnt been fitted correctly as it didn’t drain into the corner well so made the bathroom floor wet. The bathroom mirrors were too low to shave as they were under a leaning roof but there were full length in the bedroom. Lighting could be brighter.

Big room, glass water bottles rather than single use plastic, nice towels. Good full length mirrrors. Lovely setting and easy to get to location wise. Tesla charging great if you have one.

Because the hotel was not very full the menus were limited. Totally understandable.

This was our third visit to Barton Hall. This time we were joined by friends and we can honestly say that we continue to be impressed. It was a perfect setting for a relaxing catch-up. Even the weather was good.

A couple of things that was disappointing , the evening meal was tasteless , my husband had the steak and found it fatty and over cooked , when asked how it was we explained that it wasn’t nice, I felt it was overpriced for the standard of the food. When we arrived , we was told that the spa facilities that is offered to the hotel guest was no longer available as they had a party going in , I explained I’d had the sense to prebook as my husband was having treatment , which I’d booked and paid for , don’t advertise it as being a perk of staying . This wasn’t the hotels fault , but whilst we was in the outside spa , we was being pelted with stones from the kids from the wedding party that where playing in the grounds , after complaining the hotel management was quick to act , but just put a dampener on the experience .

The staff where welcoming , the room was very comfortable , the bed was very comfy .
