You will never find a better place to stay and to see the Great Wall of China. We just love it here, the host is the most lovely and helpful person, the homemade food is really delicious and the atmosphere made us feel like we are home. In terms of the beds, they are super, super hard, HOWEVER, hard beds are the norm in China, even '5star' hotels are solid compared to European tastes. As a traveler with disabilities, I found it difficult however the owner happily gave me an extra duvet to fold under myself for extra softness. We will return to this hotel at some point and I intend to have a travel inflatable mattress to add to the bed with me. These things can be bought pretty cheap these days and won't add much to your luggage!

The owners/ the parents of the owner, who run the hotel could not be friendlier, more helpful or the mum a better cook!!! Chose this hotel based on the comments about the food, knowing my husband would be in 7th heaven. We were not disappointed! Do not expect high-end luxury rooms and bathrooms, it is what it is, but, it is everything thing you need, clean and an insanely good price for that. Come for the warm family, friendly, welcoming atmosphere, and the best of Chinese hospitality you can get at any price!!! Loved our stay.

If the beds would have a name, it would be Dwayne Johnson. To be completely honest, we didn't enjoy waking up in the middle of the night because of the unusual hard beds, while laying with our eyes closed for a couple of hours before the hardness of the beds wasn't enough to keep us awake anymore. Even after walking the wall for an entire day, we only got six hours of sleep. Maybe others are more used to these kind of beds. I don't know. To compare them to something relatable: it's like sleeping on the floor with two carpets or something like that. I feel bad for saying it, since everything else was so incredibly nice, but it did unfortunately impact our overall experience.

The hosts are very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. We basicly had a personal driver for the entire stay (2 nights). They also made dinner and breakfast whenever we wanted to eat (for a reasonable price of course). And they answer very quick. And helped us to order tickets when we were leaving. In a positive way, it feels quite similar to living with your grandparents (depending on how your grandparents are of course).

It would have been nice to have some tea in the room, the bed was very hard and the shower wasn't very good, BUT I had an amazing time anyway!!

The host's Father was AMAZING. Despite my awful / non existent Chinese, he was very patient, kind and enthusiastic about his country. He ended up turning into our own personal driver and pretty much planned my days for me, including food! Very lovely family and experience.

Pillows were hard as rock, we could barely sleep. The room had a certain smell, and the bathroom was a little bit dirty, but the biggest problems are the pillows that are too small and hard

THE BEAT PLACE AND CHEAPEST OF ALL THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA

DONT EVENT THINK TWICE - THIS IS THE BEST HOTEL OF ALL THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA!!!!!! This place is one of the best places arruine the world, Quing-lee the Host is an amazing GUY he recieved us very well he trates us like KINGS. ADVICES: First take the Shuttel bus from Dongzhimen that drops you in GOUBEI Ester town Save like 4 hours at léast to explore the town! You can explore the town see the Drone show at 7 pm night take AMAZING PICTURES and then call the HOST for pick up he will charge you 20 yuan. He Can give you an Incredible Dinner for 50 yuan and you can sleep there with very hoy water. Wake up Early next day and go to JINSHANGLING this is the best place better than goubei or Goubeikou. He will drop you there and pick you up at any time you want for 200 yuan the whole car. The host are amazing treat them well everything is super clean! He even Run with us to take the bus to go back to Beijing he is like Family! The best part of our stay in All Beijing !! Good luck any doubt @ndtravel.oficial

It was all good.

The hosts were super hospitable, warm and friendly. The owner came to Beijing Airport to pick me up and brought me safely to their home. It felt like a homestay with home cooked breakfast. The breakfast was sumptuous, and had this very homestyle feel. The location is just six minutes away from the Gubei Watertown and Simatai Great Wall. I wanted to see the Great Wall at night so I chose to stay here. The owner drove me to Gubei Watertown and back to the hotel so transportation was fine and good. Wifi was fine and the bed was huge. Again, the owners were so kind and friendly. I felt like a VIP.

Location from Beijing was a bit far but the convenience of direct modern train and received by the owners made my choice to Simatai Great Wall no.1 Homecooked delicious dinner and breakfast whipped up by mama boss Exceptionally friendly couple whom allowed me all the comfort and security (I was a single lady tourist) Room and facilities are very clean and comfortable The GUZHEN, WATER TOWN, is exceptional bonus for great wall visit. It's beautiful day and night A MUST VISIT TO Simatai Great Wall

Location is not correct, it’s not in Gubei city so you can’t be independent. But for a fee they can drive you anywhere. Don’t hesitate to ask for fees before asking for drives and meals.

Hosts are really nice and helpful, felt like home. Very good meals !! They don’t speak English but communication was super easy :)

Everything. Clear fast communication, the owner speaks English and organized everything for me in great detail. Transport from and back to Beijing was great, comfortable and convenient! The room and the guesthouse were immaculately clean. The food was just AMAZING! I literally loved everything. MUCH MUCH BETTER than a 5 start hotel in my opinion. Highly recommended.
