I spent the last three nights of my trip at Tuki Tuki lodge and would come back in a heartbeat. JP gave me a warm welcome, even took a short tour of the city in a TukTuk and showed me the most important landmarks. Since the lodge is a little out of the way, it is very quiet, but even as a woman I felt safe walking back from the city in the dark. JP also gave me the bike to use freely, which made the distance even shorter. The room was clean and well equipped, the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was prepared to order every morning and was very tasty. Thank you very much for your hospitality!

Located in Tamarindo, Hotel Casa Carlota Tamarindo features a garden. There is a year-round outdoor pool and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. I travel a lot and I don't think I've met friendlier or more helpful hosts at this hotel. Due to a shortage of rental cars throughout Costa Rica, I was without transportation when I arrived at the hotel. Jeffrey and Shirley gave me a ride to downtown Tamarindo and even took time from their busy schedule to provide a personal tour of the town. Shirley even arranged an Uber taxi for me to travel to my next stop at Coco Beach. They are renovating the hotel and it is now modern, clean and reasonably priced.

A super pleasant experience!

This place is very touristic and not cheap at all. Everything from food to souvenirs is expensive. Example: souvenir cup - $25, t-shirt -20-25, iced coffee (small) - $5. Supermarkets are quite expensive too. I don't recommend Las Olas and Las Palmeras. Super compro is better though. The beach/ocean is good for surfing, but not pleasant for swimming - the waves are too strong and high. If you are not a surfer, it is better to stay in other places in Guanacaste, where the ocean is good for swimming.
Quiet community, not too many tourists, amazing beach and bay. Easy access to all other Guanacaste locations. We really enjoyed the food at Cristina's Bar - their chef was surprisingly good for such a small place. Everything he made tasted great! Best sunsets we saw were at Sugar Beach. A lot of expats live in Potrero, so it's easy to get around and communicate.
We came from Guanacaste, which is brown and dusty and suffering from a drought. So Nuevo Arenal and the road leading to it and to Volcan Arenal was refreshingly verdant. In fact the views of the lake reminded us of some of the Italian lakes, Lago Maggiore, for example. There plenty of outstanding places to stay, as well as good restaurants.
Tamarindo is a lovely, if bustling tourist town on a lovely beach in Guanacaste province. We were there in the shoulder season, and it was still very busy. But there is a good choice of quality restaurants, shops and arts studios. If you visit, be sure to visit Guaitil, the indigenous community that produces hand-made pre-Colombian era pottery in family-run operations in this small community. There many attractions, beaches and communities to visit near Tamarindo.
Coco is best for the general vacationer, especially for longer stays. It has a long wide, sandy beach fine but not as pretty as others like Flamingo, Grande or even Hermosa. But these other places have generally fewer facilities than Coco ....supermarkets, restaurants, bus service, medical and dental services in case of emergency. Coco is not as busy as Tamarindo and far closer to the airport and other tourist attractions. It is easy to get around Coco... 20 minutes from the beach to the end of the main street but it is a hot 20 minutes at 30+C. Sunscreen is a must and so is insect repellent for the whole coastal area. There are many restaurants on the main street or on the beach but our favorites for quality and ambience were La Dolce Vita and Soda Mediterranea in the Las Palmas area a 20 minutes walk from town. Taxis are easily available and one way fares are around 5 US$. Many hire golf carts also. Coco is an excellent place for a first time visit to the Guanacaste coast of Costa Rica. Once you know what you really like your second trip may take you elsewhere or bring you back. Happy travels!
If you are going to Costa Rica you have to visit Tamarindo! Gorgeous beach but also has the Estuary right there and allows for boat tours to see lots of wildlife up close such as Crocs, monkeys etc...There are 20-30 restaurants and bars within 5-10 minute walk from any hotel. Lots of shopping opportunities and is a great jumping off spot if you want to take rental car up or down the Guanacaste region to see other Beaches....third visit in 4 years and already planning for next March.....95+ every day if you don't mind heat and every place is air conditioned....most restaurants are open air., but temp drops at night....oh the memories......almost ran over a Sloth one day and came to a stop for a picture and oh look there's 10-12 Monkeys in the trees above me!
Guanacaste has amazing beaches and Tamarindo is not the exception, there a lot of plazas with restaurants, nice hotels and everything you might need to spend some really nice vacations. To me Conchal beach is one of the best in Costa Rica and it is 30 minutes away by car from Tamarindo so I would highly recommend to go there.
Beautiful beach, good restaurants nearby. It's very "american", far more than other places in Guanacaste
Playa Conchal
The premises are fantastic, the surrounding breathtaking nature is unbelievable, as all of the nature in Costa Rica is! Of course, Playa Conchal where the hotel is, is the best beach in all of Guanacaste (northern province of Costa Rica) with its white sands and turquoise blue water, you can only be grateful that you are there and cannot ask for more! The room was awesome in every way. Magnificent ocean view, dual shower heads, a super comfortable king size bed, big balcony, big sized room! Friendly staff!
We were blown away by this property! Booked it last minute because we needed somewhere to stay before our flight out of Liberia Guanacaste Airport (LIR) and it was the perfect ending to our stay. The pool was large with lots of chairs and is surrounded by lush trees while iguanas and peacocks walk around the premises. The restaurant on property is pleasant and wholesome. AC works great and there is an ice machine in the hotel. The free breakfast is delightful and I appreciated the COVID safe precautions.
Loved the deer, agouti and monkeys freely roaming the property. Like an oasis once leaving the busy main road. We stayed two nights heading home via Guanacaste Airport. We were glad that we stayed two nights as location was perfect being next door to a river that provided rafting, which was excellent and on the other side of the hotel was the Puma Sanctuary, also worth a visit. Staff here are all very attentive and helpful. Altogether a great stay
I have always struggled to get a quiet and clean room in Liberia (Guanacaste) without paying a lot. This place met all my expectations. The room was extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable. The neighborhood was really nice and I felt really safe. Its a basic hotel but has all you need for an overnight (or perhaps a couple of nights) stay in Liberia. I strongly recommend this little hotel.
Liberia
The cabanas were clean and beautiful. The food was delicious and the hospitality was excellent. Katia and Jon who run the hotel went above and beyond for us. They made our unscheduled stay in Guanacaste a life memory and for that I am grateful. Beautiful place and beautiful staff, this family run business made us feel like family. Travel is joy and they made it even more joyful. Pura Vida!
Excellent hotel in a remote and private location in the north of Guanacaste. The room was much bigger than expected, and bed were very comfortable. The restaurant of the hotel is also very good! We enjoyed our breakfasts as well as some dinners there! You can easily access many other beaches by car in less than 20 min.
Hotel El Valero was in quiet, sleepy Playa Hermosa in Guanacaste. It's Right on the ocean so the dining room spills into the Pacific. The people were kind and warm (as the Costa Rican people are), the hotel has a 'local' Costa Rican ambiance with rich wood appointments and tile. I would go back again!
Samara is a gem on the Costa Rican Pacific coast. One of our favourite towns and beaches in Guanacaste. Villas Kalimba is one of the nicer places to stay in this town. I would not hesitate to stay here again on a return trip. The staff is great
Everthing , food was amazing , we have avery strict diet we always suffer when we out , here it was no issue , the view from our room was breathtaking , alot of things to do , this is the best all inclisive hotel in guanacaste with no doubt
Liberia
The hostel has a good location near the bus stops to the beaches of Guanacaste. The receptionist recommended me to visit Ocotal Beach which was great. Highly recommended.
The only thing that is nice is the nature that surrounds this place, but there are far nicer beaches in Guanacaste.
This hotel is a hidden gem in Guanacaste. Beautiful room, delicious breakfast and friendly staff.
Great location and wonderful grounds. Small resort, but on an incredible beach in Guanacaste.
The ambience and all there was to do in the area. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. The restaurant served very good food. The staff made the experience as they were so helpful and friendly
Great but relatively small hotel. Located just at the Pacific Ocean shore it offers amazing views and opportunities for a stroll on the beach. Staff was very kind and helpful. All-inclusive package is well worth its price, since both bar (drinks and snacks) and restaurant (a'la carte lunches and dinners + buffet breakfasts) serve their offer at a very high level.
everything! it exceeded expectation
The pool, room, front desk was fantastic!!! Very clean with lush gardens!!!
everything this place is amazing, the staff were so friendly I would definitely go back
Demasiado confortable y espectacular
