If the sun comes out and there's no wind, this lake is STUNNING. It takes about two hours to walk around the lake and you want to start as early as possible as towards 11am it'll be getting busy.

Lovely hotel perfect spot if walking buttermere and crummock water, staff were lovely, the place was clean it was just the other residents staying that let it down for our stay. Very loud neighbours in the room next door and 2 very rude girls in the bar. Other than that the place was perfect!

Great little hotel for a very short break. Perfect location. Can imagine it being absolutely rammed during the summer. A mid April break absolutely perfect. All the staff were extremely professional, friendly and helpful, and clearly engaged with providing a great experience. Took our pooch as well on our adventure and it is very clear that it is what they say and a very Dog friendly hotel. Thank you Buttermere for the perfect stay.

Superb location, lovely room with comfy bed; slept like a log! STAFF are the highlight of this hotel. Reception, housekeeping ( everything left spotless every day), lovely Pure Lakes toiletries, excellent service from bar and restaurant staff, lovely residents' lounge; a haven of peace as Buttermere was so busy. Food was excellent though I found the portions a bit large as I'm getting older and don't walk as far or as high as I used to; 10 years ago I'd have wolfed the lot!

Really good hostel in a beautiful location in Buttermere. We were lucky enough to get a 6 bed dorm at the front of the building even though there were only two of us - the room was huge and had a great view. Staff were super friendly, good food options and covid precautions. We ordered pizzas which were fine, a nice treat after a long day hiking. Unfortunately they got our order wrong but a staff member promptly brought up a new pizza and was even kind enough to give us a free drink as an apology.
