Cambodia has successfully dusted itself off from the ravages of war with its colourful capital of Phnom Penh rising from the ashes and sparkling once more. This fascinating city, on the banks of the Mekong River, features exotic markets, cultural jewels and is home to some of the friendliest people on earth.
A visit to the National Museum captures a slice of Cambodia’s ancient Khmer history and art. A different and more recent history suffocates and overwhelms visitors to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, the former prison of the Khmer Rouge, and The Killing Fields are a short drive from the capital.
The Royal Palace is a striking centrepiece in the centre of Phnom Penh, and is home to the Emerald Buddha and Silver Pagoda. Not far away is the Cambodian Independence Monument that celebrates Cambodia’s sovereignty.
You can satisfy your hunger pains with delicious French-Indochina-inspired meals at various street stalls or classy restaurants. The riverside area has the Art Deco Central Market for a great bargain and there are a variety of bars, especially near Sisowath Quay.
Take time to walk around the French colonial streets with its mix of slow-moving monks and speedy motorbikes. Booking.com has many hotels located in Daun Penh and Chamkar Mon districts, amongst others.

It's a nice enough city, a bit busy with motorbikes and tuk-tuks. Airline agencies were a bit difficult to locate, to phone, to even open the doors!
MY biggest surprise was the quantity of plastics thrown into fields and drains out of town. Little wonder that the sea is becoming polluted!
The Royal Palace and gardens are quite a place to see.

Take a trip on the river at sunset. Visit the Silk Farm.
Take a trip on the river at sunset. Visit the Silk Farm. Be amazed at the TukTuk & Moped traffic & hectic city life. See, but then leave behind, the over-development of high-rise buildings and area around Diamond Island. Eat at Le Langka - great French Restaurant, lovely people. Drink at the bar next door, behind the Cola machine!

We really enjoyed our trip to Phnom Penh, we traveled as a family of 6 and had a wonderful local tuk-tuk driver that managed to fit us all in lol that was truly an experience!! He took us to many places and we were able to experience Phnom Penh in a way we didn't expect which was amazing.
We stayed at the Peninsula Phnom Penh which was great value for money and a beautiful place to come back to at the end of the day. The rooftop pool was fantastic and live music was a wonderful bonus.

It's pretty much a business city.
It's pretty much a business city. For something more cultural consider going to Siem Reap. When traveling within any of the cities in Cambodia, I would recommend using "PassApp." It operates much like Bolt which looks at your current GPS location, and asks where you want to go to. You can then select the mode of transportation. The tuktuks in Cambodia have all been modernized, but are quite small compared with Thailand. They can comfortably fit 2 people and a couple of small suitcases in the back. You might fit 3 people at a stretch. If you select "Rickshaw" it's the old style tuktuk which is basically a trailer hooked to a motorcycle. These are much more expansive and can fit 6 people and a couple of good sized suitcases. Otherwise they have standard passenger cars and SUVs available as well. DO NOT engage a driver directly from the street by flagging them down. You WILL get ripped off. If you use the app, the price is fixed and you won't get ripped off. Another thing to watch out for is most cash machines allow you to received US dollars or Camobian Real. If you select USD, you'll probably get a single $100 bill. There are a lot of fake bills floating around and your $100 might get refused. Also, most of the small vendors don't have the change for $100 so you're stuck. My advice is to receive money on Cambodian Real for the most flexibility. The exchange rate fluctuates wildly, so be sure to check daily and be prepared to do the calculations quickly!
The room was very clean and spacious. The air conditioner was functioning properly and was much needed during the hot days in Cambodia. The bed was really comfortable and the washroom was also very clean. I wasn't able to join any of the events hosted as I had a tight schedule but the staff seem to be very engaging and lively. The restaurant was also a nice perk to have for a quick bite or a drink. Very conveniently located in the heart of Phnom Penh with walking distance to many attractions. Would definitely recommend!
The pool area and the food were fabulous. The welcome staff and refreshments were great. The decor was very luxurious and also very Angkor. I loved it. My room was very spacious and had many amenities including fresh fruits. The hotel location was probably the best location for a hotel in Phnom Penh. I use to live in Phnom Penh so I was within walking distance to all my favorite restaurants as well as the Royal Palace, National Art Museum and Riverside. Sadly the Royal Palace was closed due to Covid restrictions.
A great place to stay. Excellent facilities (washing machine, crockery, full size frig, sink etc), easy to access, helpful staff, very comfortable bed, spacious. Great for a longer term stay. I have stayed in many Airbnb and hotels in and around Riverside/PP and this is excellent value for money.
I used to live around the corner so know and appreciate the neighbourhood. If you love hip restaurants and bars you are in luck, it's a stone's thrown from Bassac Lane/Street but you get none of the noise from there.
i wish I could rate this place higher. this is the best hotel I’ve stayed in cambodia. it’s newly built, it is very modern, extremely clean and the beds are very very soft and comfortable. the hotel staff where very friendly and went above and beyond to help you with anything you needed. we also got a free room upgrade. the roof top pool on the 10th floor was amazing for sunset. overall 10/10 amazing value for money! i can’t fault this hotel in any way. Thankyou for the amazing stay!

The pool had a 360 degree view of the whole city! It was spectacular! The rooms were nice with a balcony. It wasn’t spacious, but it was enough for a short visit. It was the best choice for us because of the location. We only had half a day tour in Phnom Penh after arriving the night before. The location got us to see several places like the palace, Independence Monument, the National Museum, Wat Phnom, shops, and restaurants. It also had dishwashing soap. I will definitely be staying there again.
We loved this hotel so much we used it as a base when travelling around Cambodia. Beautiful hotel right in the heart of PP and favourite throughout our trip through SE Asia. They allowed us to leave some luggage there whilst we visited other parts of the country. All the staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful. We loved the beautiful pool set within the patio garden and restaurant serving the best breakfasts we had throughout our trip.
When it comes to price quality offer. This is was the best we had in Cambodia. We totally recommand this hotel newly built. Location is simply great, view from the balcony is great, staff were very nice and helpful, restaurant and bar is still under renovation, but I bet it would be a great place to dine. An infinity pool with a view on the best sites of phnom pehn. Very comfortable beds and pillows. TV is huge with Netflix.
Stylish, modern and spacious room with a comfortable bed and amazing view of the city and the river. Great location near to Phnom Penh's busiest party street Bassac Lane, Independence Monument and Riverside. One of the best hotel included breakfasts I've ever had, with a very diverse and generous menu with Asian and Western choices. Helpful and welcoming staff who made our stay even the more pleasant. Thank you!
It was the wounderful and great time for me to experience to stay at Best Central Point Hotel. All staff were kind and friendly. I was enjoyable there as visited Royal Palace, National Museum and many history places nearby. Oh one more thing that I really not to forget, the food so you could taste with nice and delicious as Cambodian's style. I warmly recommended to stay there when you visit Phnom Penh.
I've been traveling to Cambodia since 2095, stayed in various hotels and guesthouse. Duong Chan hotel surpasses all the others. For the past five years I mage Cambodia my residence and often travel from the Provinces to stay in the City for a change of pace. From this day forward, Duong Chan hotel will be my first choice to stay.
The very helpful staff of this hotel helped make all my time in Cambodia -- not just Phnom Penh -- a pleasure. Kudos to Tom Vichet! This beautifully decorated hotel has comfortable rooms and a very pleasant covered roof top pool. It also has a restaurant well worth sampling for lunch or dinner, not just breakfast.
Location wise amazing. Really close to Royal Palace and Riverside Quay. All arrangements can be done from the hotel. Great ambience, great pool and good food. Book without any doubt. Booking from here for the Siem Reap sister property of Hello Cambodia may give 20% discount.
this hotel is brand new and amazing. the staff is so lovely and helpfull. the pool area is great, the rooms are very very clean and the bed is comfy. standard of everything is huge! this was by far the best hotel we stayed in Cambodia. we would definitely come back again!
Hotel located in city center with easy access to all this city have to offer. Lot of nearby restaurant. The hotel building can be one of the tallest so view were not block by the neighbor. Credit to the lady at reception who try her best to assist me during my stay
This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in anywhere. On a par with a 5 star hotel in Warsaw and a couple of other hotels in Hong Kong and USA. It was that good! And well above some 4/5 star hotels. Staff were great. Room was superb.
We had a great stay with great staff at Le Kree. Very impressive furniture and facilities, especially huge gym with full setup different faclities. Highly recommeded to stay hotel near airport within 15-20 minutes away.
The location is good. It's close to the city centre. The reception guy is very funny, he is kind but not professional. They have all the time cold beer and cold water available at decent prices at the hotel.
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting phnom penh, cambodia.
Location. Staff. Comfort. Food. View. Pool. I don’t even know why I attempt stays at other hotels in Phnom Penh. This is THE place to stay. A bit expensive but you get what you pay for.
