We stayed here for a Landrover Experience day in Butterstone, which was just a few miles up the road.
It was 50 years since my last visit to Birnam...when i was Youth Hosteling as a 15 year old.
We ate our evening meal in the Inn right next door to the Hotel.
Next time we'd like to stay a bit longer.

Beautiful historical town.
Beautiful historical town. It is very quaint, but it is still so pleasant to walk around. There are a few small shops, bakeries, and restaurants with great food. Everyone there was so friendly. There are a few pubs with affordable prices and great atmospheres. A train station is close by so it is easy to get to bigger towns and cities as well. The town is extremely safe, even at night. I never felt uncomfortable walking around.

Scenery outstanding; village charming.
Scenery outstanding; village charming. The only downside was the lack of pubs/restaurants, as this was over the Xmas period; consequently, on Xmas Eve we booked an over-priced [and not very good] meal at the Tay Bank Hotel -o.k. for a seat if having a meal upstairs [no signs or directions, but a local told us] but small bar downstairs dangerously over-packed with people [getting near the bar to order drinks impossible]. Apart from this local monopoly, Dunkeld is a great place, especially for The Great Outdoors. A walk up nearby Birnam Hill gives wonderful views of the rich surrounding countryside and its cute villages.

Rooms and public spaces were excellent.
Rooms and public spaces were excellent. When we checked in we were told swimming pool closed, this was one of the main reasons we stayed. When I complained to Kenny the duty manager he told me everyone was advised when it was reopened. I told him we were not advised. He insisted we were and walked away. The rest of the staff excellent. Drinks way to expensive £46 for a £12 bottle of wine, £15.50 for a 250 ml glass of sauvingnon

Our stay was relaxing and we liked going on the various walks that were various options. We especially liked the walk along the river past Macbeth’s tree. The Cathedral is well worth a visit and the trees are part of the history too.
Nice location , good room with huge bed. However, I expected the bathroom to be a bit more modernised.
I liked the welcome sherry/whisky which was a nice touch.
The building inside is very nice with luxury sitting areas to relax or read.
Dinner at the restaurant downstairs was quite fancy and tasted very good so I'd definitely recommend going there.
The best part is the access to the spa, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna which was fab and clean.
Hot breakfast was very nice too.
I would stay again.
Amazing apartment, beautifully presented and very stylish. Bedding, towels etc all of good quality and there was everything you could possibly have needed to make your stay enjoyable. Situated in the centre of Dunkeld, lots of lovely shops and great places to eat. We were attending a wedding on the Murthly Estate which was just 15 minutes away and there was plenty of room for us all to get ready in comfort. Suited us better than staying in a hotel.
The location is excellent. The hotel is very clean and the staff are exceptionally friendly. Choice of breakfast times was good and the 11am checkout time was also a bonus. The free standing bath was a nice touch! The Z Terrace on the banks of the Tay was also very good and it was enjoyable to eat outside with a couple of beers by the silvery Tay.
Nice location a relatively short walk to/from the centre of Dunkeld. On a unique street on the grounds of an estate. Hard to describe, but there are old buildings and a grand looking hotel and iron gate at the street as you turn onto the small street to the B&B. Comfortable, clean room and friendly staff. Nice breakfast.
We would love to return to this gorgeous apt. All the Charles Rennie Mackintosh touches were lovely. Plenty of space - the smaller bedroom was great for an extra guest. Very handy location opposite the Birnam Arts Centre and about 15 min stroll into Dunkeld. Delicious pizzas at Birnam Inn. A really enjoyable stay.
Clean, bright and airy room. Hotel beautifully decorated.
Breakfast had many choices and all were good with fresh coffee, what more could you want!
The owner was a friendly, helpful lady and made us feel very welcome.
Nice area with easy riverside walk to Dunkeld and lots of interesting walks nearby.
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Dunkeld. i wished had more time to spend there and have chat with people were already staying in.
Great location, nice shower, nice bed. Tons of space! Loved the view of the Beatrix Potter garden! Short walk to the train station and the dining/shops in Dunkeld. There are many trail options for biking, hiking, and walking nearby as well.
Room ( family room on 3rd floor) was very comfortable, quiet and clean with a view over the rooftops of Dunkeld.
Parking behind the Hotel was particularly useful as the village was extremely busy with visitors when we arrived.
Beautiful location in Dunkeld which has a beautiful river, lovely forest walks and a great mix of independent shops, cafes and bakeries. Hotel is beautifully and quirkily decorated in an ideal spot overlooking the river.
The location is excellent for exploring Perthshire. Located in the countryside, very quiet and peaceful. It has everything you may need. Very spacious for 2 people, which is great for a change.
This is an amazingly beautiful and comfy tiny house. The scenery is breathtaking. It's quiet and peaceful, yet only 10 miles on good roads to nearest town, either Crieff or Dunkeld.
What an adorable private cottage. Not far from the town of Dunkeld, but a nice remote feeling. Easy access to
tour Scotland. House as well kept and had a great facilities.
The property location was excellent, just a short walk into Dunkeld, and within a short drive of the Newtyle beat on the Tay. Very clean and very well fitted out.
