Beautiful place with a breathtaking view.

Beautiful place with a breathtaking view. Very pretty garden. The house is absolutely gorgeous, very spacious, comfortable furniture everything super clean and brand new. Jan and Colin are the nicest people on earth rescuing us from the back of beyond with two flat tires. I want to come again and stay much longer.

We called in to a few pubs and the locals were all very friendly and chatty even to us English ha ha. The town was clean and we had a nice walk across the river along a park then back again. There was plenty of places to have a drink. We only went for the football at Queen of the South and I would go there again given the chance.

I visited with my young grandchildren to attend the Wigtonshire Book Festival which was a great success, as was the accommodation. However on the Sunday evening, after the Book Festival, There was nowhere suitable available in Dumfries to take three children for an evening meal before travelling home to Stirling. Quite disappointing.

I was only there for 2 days, for a Watercolour workshop, so unfortunately didn’t have much time for sightseeing, but it seems a very historic and interesting town Ate in the Bistro restaurant at Crichton

Dumfries is a mecca for all things Rabbie Burns; it boasts the site of his original grave, a Burns museum, the house where he last resided, his local pub and more besides. The people of Dumfries are exceptionally friendly and the town is steeped in history. The River Nith provides a romantic backdrop which is very atmospheric at night. Dumfries is easily accessible by road and rail and easy to get around. There are some very characterful places to visit and with more visitors, the variety of places to eat and drink will surely increase.

A very warm welcome received on checking in at the Woodland House Hotel. I was even shown to my room (I can't remember the last time that happened during a hotel stay) 🙂 A fantastic hotel, very impressed. Hotel was situated in a very peaceful setting which resulted in having a great nights sleep, the Room was very spacious and comfortable. I just need to find an excuse now to stay overnight in Dumfries and stay at the hotel again 👍

A beautiful country house hotel. The public areas of the hotel are lovely with a log fire in the lounge next to the reception area and with beautiful grounds. All on the edge of Mabie Forest, but only 10 mins drive from the centre of Dumfries. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and well kept but also full of character. Breakfast was delicious.

The property was very comfy, cozy and inviting. It was well maintained and had everything we needed. The village was beautiful and although you were close to the road. There was no noise or disturbance. It was the perfect location for us visiting family who live in Dumfries Town Centre. We had easily access to the coast and family in Lockerbie.

The breakfast was first rate, we have stayed here previously but due to the current covid situation we found the hotel and staff reassuring, confident and fully aware of the need and provision for well appointed sanitisation stations. Overall the attention to detail put nervous travellers minds at ease. Absolutely fantastic thankyou so much.

We had a splendid, spacious room in this lovely 1920s Arts and Crafts house in a quiet suburban neighbourhood. Our room was furnished with a genuine antique four-poster bed with matching wardrobe, all very tasteful. A good full Scottish breakfast set us up for our onward journey. The house is a 0.8 mile walk into the centre of Dumfries

Rivendell really is a little gem of a place. The location is brilliant for both Dumfries town and for travelling around the local area. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I also found it brilliant value for money. I really would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for accommodation in or around Dumfries.

A very attractive location which would be perfect for anyone wanting to explore Dumfries and Galloway by car. Clean, comfortable rooms. Friendly staff. I am not a morning person so didn't have breakfast but offerings seem great. It is more of a guesthouse than a hotel which is worth bearing in mind. Great value.
