We liked the waterfall repelling, spent half a day at the rope swing, major highlight of the trip, didn't spend a lot of time in town, loved the Fortuna waterfall, didn't prefer the free hot springs. Enjoyed the Fortuna waterfall hike BUT beware of the steps…great hike but 500 steps DOWN, then 500 steps BACK UP!😉 beautiful falls and swimming area! Loved our zipline and rappel tour!! (Go Adventures!) And the hot springs across the street afterwards…ALL in the rain!🙃 Loved our hotel Arenal Rabfer! Walkability! Worst: DRIVING, roads, local drivers and scooters! Volcan areal is very close and you can also visit the hot springs close by. The hotel offers a free frog tour in the dark, which was a great experience. It takes place on the hotel grounds and there are many frogs to be found. Normals and venomous ones, the guide was knowlegeable and told a lot about the animals and the plants, I really recommend to stay here to visit the La Fortuna area.JonasGermany

It is walking distance to the center town area (about a 15 minute walk) - we walked during the day and night and got around easily. The staff were super kind and thoughtful - they would go out of their way to make our days as great as possible! There is a great trail on the hotel property as well that leads to a peaceful river. The property itself is very well maintained and features beautiful flowers!

Special thanks to Maria, who was always there whenever questions arose. For all you backpackers out there: if you travel by bus, the bus terminal is only 5 minutes (by foot) away.
