This historical Arabian-style building is located in the UNESCO-listed town of Lamu. It is less than 300 metres from the seafront and 3 km from the white sandy beach.

The bright rooms at Subira House have either a patio or a balcony and some have sea views and free Wi-Fi. Every room has a fan, a seating area, and a dining area. Gorgeous house with amazing swahili flair, lovely hosts. Seems like they contribute to the Lamu community in a big way, they are well known and loved with everyone I spoke to. Hotel staff will help you organize any outing you‘d like, I can recommend Dhow trips, but they also help with other activities (plus reasonable pricing recommendations). Eco friendly facilities and the breakfast is amazing with ingredients sourced almost exclusively from their own Lamu farm.

Offering a terrace and quiet street view, Wildebeeste Lamu is situated in Lamu, 300 metres from Lamu Fort and 400 metres from Gallery Baraka.

Some units also have a well-fitted kitchen equipped with an oven, a toaster, and a fridge. Wildebeeste was one of the best stays we had during our journey. We’ve enjoyed it so much that it was very hard for us to leave again. Joshua is a very friendly host who helps you out with everything you need. The room is very spacious, clean and has everything you need, including a fan and mosquito net. It’s in an old Swahili-house where you can literally feel the long history of Lamu, it’s houses and it’s residents. You can use a well equipped kitchen and the (sea) view from the roof terrace is just stunning. Siwa, the oldest tourism guide in town, showed us around and we could profit from his experience and contacts all around town. If we ever have the opportunity, we will definitely come back.

The hotel is beautiful, and the staff is always available and welcoming. We have access to a wide range of activities and the hotel is well located, in the center of Shilla and a few minutes by walk from the beach.

Offering sea views, Furaha House is an accommodation located in Shela, 60 metres from Manda Beach and 200 metres from Shela Beach. This beachfront property offers access to a balcony. The accommodation provides free WiFi throughout the property, as well as a terrace and a restaurant.

Mnarani House is 400 metres from the bed and breakfast. Our host Kazunga was fantastic! He cooked delicious meals for us, set up tours, and showed us around town.

Facing the seafront on Manda Island, Mangrove House features a private beach area. Among the various facilities are barbecue facilities and a garden. Free WiFi is available and Gallery Baraka is 3.5 km away.

Our stay on Manda’s side at Mangrove House was truly wonderful. The location is unmatched, the peace and quiet are absolute. The staff is wonderful and so is the owner, super attentive and ready to help and share. The house is right in front of Shela and Peponi hotel, just a short boat trip away. Would absolutely go back, and recommend it to everyone going to Lamu!
