Easy to wheel our bags to, very convenient to get to metro and suburban train lines for sightseeing and for arriving and leaving from Kyoto by Shinkansen. A charming, traditional style house that was a nice contrast to the very modern apt we stayed at in Tokyo. We loved the large sleeping room upstairs, tatami mats covering the floor, with 3 very comfortable, firm mattresses with duvets on the tatami mats. The bedroom is accessed by a very steep staircase, but there is a very strong wall rail and we had no problems, as we're all pretty lithe and fit. Also, sleeping at the floor level was not a problem for us. Beautiful decorated in the traditional manner. AC on both floors. Bathroom was small but adequate, and we loved the tiny enclosed garden out the back. The kitchen facilities were great and we loved the large wooden dining table and chairs. Communication with the owner was easy, responsive and friendly. They did us a nice courtesy letting us leave our bags in the small laundry area after checkout time as our train didn't leave till 4 hours later. I highly recommend.
