The accommodation offers an air conditioning, a heating and a private bathroom. The location is incredible! You’re in a small village right by one of the most beautiful beaches in Japan, quiet, untouched by tourism, packed full of traditional houses with ornate roofs, vegetable plots and small shrines. Nearby is another fabulous beach for snorkeling (Myoken-ura) where we saw lots of colourful fish whilst black kites circled above. A truly beautiful area. Kaz’s place is great: huge tatami rooms, a rustic and cool feel to it, and not too modernised which we found fantastic-it felt like we living in an old temple…but warmer and with TV! (A tip for finding the place: it’s easiest to go to the road along the beach first and and go up from there and park nearby!)

Rental villa Gontaya, a property with a terrace, is situated in Takamori, 50 km from Kumamoto Castle, 25 km from Mount Aso, as well as 39 km from KK Wings. The air-conditioned accommodation is 40 km from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto, and guests can benefit from private parking available on site and free WiFi. The property is non-smoking and is located 48 km from Suizenji Park. We had a wonderful stay at this lovely accommodation. It’s located in a very quiet and peaceful area, yet still very convenient — just a few minutes’ drive to supermarkets, convenience stores, and restaurants. The cottage is beautifully decorated with a lot of care. It truly feels like a home away from home. There were six of us, and the space was more than enough for everyone to feel comfortable. The owner was incredibly warm and welcoming, and even went out of their way to help us make a dinner reservation — we really appreciated that kind gesture. The place is also very well-equipped with everything we needed. We only stayed for one night this time, which felt far too short. Hopefully, we’ll have the chance to come back and stay for a few more days next time. Overall, this stay went beyond my expectations. Highly recommended!
