It's four bedroom house with very comfortable futons on the tatami, a very nice kitchen and bathroom. This was an amazing place and perhaps the highlight of our whole 3 weeks in Japan. We had a villa for four and it was amazing. The private Onsen and sauna really was the icing on the cake. The villa was well equipped, spacious and modern. There were so many high-tech gadgets I didn't really know what some of them were! The welcome drinks in the fridge were especially kind. There is a bus just before the 10:00 a.m. checkout time down to the station in Nikko which was great. Location a little bit out of town but that didn't bother us and it was a nice 15-minute walk.

The host, Sato-san, was absolutely amazing. He met us at the station, took my son & his family to their lodging, let us off and took our luggage with him. We spent the afternoon sightseeing and having lunch. We called him about 3-4 hours later when we were back at the station and told him we were going to pick up some things at the nearby supermarket before we came to the Yurt. He picked us up at the Supermarket and brought us to the Yurt where he helped us unloaded our luggage from his van and showed us how to get into the Yurt. No keys to deal with. Simple Combo lock. Sato-san begins communicating with you a few days before your arrival using Whatsapp. If you don't have it he uses e-mail which can lag behind. So, if you can set that up ahead of time, communications may go better for you.

The property offers quiet street views. Koundo Guest House is a beautiful 2-store traditional style japanese house located in a lovely neighborhood nearby many touristic spots in Nikko. The manager - a kind and discrete old japanese man who sleeps in a room downstairs - receptioned us with soft drinks and showed us the house facilities and a map of the neighborhood. We loved the whole experience and we certainly want to come back one day.
