Great prices, breakfast, dinner, and company. The host's good intentions, attention to detail, plus efforts to accommodate and comfort guests were exceptional, i.e. providing maps, bikes and detailed instructions for getting around and shopping. Also, Osa is near a beautiful beach, a walk or bike ride away where visitors can swim and relax. A pleasant restaurant with good prices is nearby the beach. A chocolate factory is also a bike ride away. The host led us to a unique treehouse in a jungle setting rife with birds and monkeys. Internet access, too.

Wow, hidden gem. We had villa #8 which had a stunning view of jungle and even the gulf in the distance. Villa was clean and modern and the club house is fantastic (games, infinity pool, plus great staff, service and food!) The caretaker Richie is such a nice guy and has great tips for places to visit. Be prepared this is jungle, which we loved, but that also means if you leave the exterior lights on in evening you'll see spiders the size of your palm and hundreds of bugs! You can probably get to property with any car but once inside a 4x4 is helpful because the hills are insane.

Michelle is very responsive, she replies to booking.com messages not just within hours, but sometimes within minutes. She offered to do laundry for me after I came back from a 2-day/1-night Corcovado tour, and I had my clean & dry laundry back 2 hours later. Carlos picked me up from the PJM airstrip (also here, excellent communication with Michelle as my domestic flight was delayed by an hour), then gave me a tour through the town pointing out the most relevant places and even stopping at the Corcovado tour agency where I had booked so I could check in (~12 hours before tour start) while Carlos waited in his car - he also brought me to PJM airstrip after my stay. They both came to my patio one late morning and handed me a fresh mango which I peeled and ate right away, one of the best I’ve ever had. Carlos borrowed me his umbrella two evenings, so I could walk to the town in the rain. From my patio (where I’ve spent most of my time awake), I’ve seen: macaws, toucans, hummingbirds, pelicans, frigate birds, cormorants, vultures, iguanas, crabs, dolphins. And every morning the howler monkeys were my “alarm clock”. I’ve not used the kitchen but it is well equipped with everything you need to cook a meal. “Happy Monkeys” is a 10-min walk from the pier where most Corcovado tours start - very convenient when your tour starts at 5:20am - and max. 15-min walk to all shops & restaurants.

It’s got a great driveway, spacious house with two levels, great mosquito netting that goes around the bed, 3 bathrooms, lovely pets including a friendly parrot 🦜 and the outside patio is well kept and the pool stylish (and illuminated in the evenings!). We stayed for 6 nights with Geraldo and his family and they were very welcoming and even gave us fresh bananas and coconut waters daily. His wife did our washing and folded it really neatly. We were never bored as there is so much to do on the Osa Peninsula and we really missed the place and all the people and animals living there when we left. We saw squirrel monkeys from the balcony in the morning and saw macaws fly over the house regularly.
