A toaster, a fridge and kitchenware are also featured, as well as a coffee machine. At the villa complex, the units are equipped with bed linen and towels. We got the unit on the second floor. It had 2 bedrooms. Super comfy 200cm width bed. Fully equipped kitchen though the kitchen is outdoors, might not fit everyone. For us it was great. Barely any mosquitoes even outdoors. Nice place to buy fruits 5 minutes walk and a big organic supermarket less than 10 minutes walk. The beach is very close to the flat, big waves but we built sand castles with our baby so it was fine. It was very relaxing stay in a peaceful environment. They even have a laundry machine and were very responsive to all our requests. Felt very secluded. 10 minutes walk from the Jaguar Rescue Center.

Casa Chilamates is a lovely house set amongst the nature of Tortuguero where you can enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings full of wildlife. Rodrigo and his wife are perfect, friendly hosts. They live in the neighbouring property and are easy to communicate with at all times. Set on the edge of the village right next to the national park. We saw several monkeys and wildlife from the terrace. We booked excellent trips with Rodrigo who runs the Trips Navitos guided tours. Local guide Gabriel met us at the house for each trip and was an enthusiastic guide throughout our stay. Tortuguera was our favourite stay in Cost Rica and Rodrigo made our trip so memorable. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in town so didn't need to use the kitchen facilities. A place to make great memories.

The owners are super helpful, welcoming and nice. Together with their team they made our holidays an unforgettable experience. Every morning the fresh coffee waiting on the terrace (that was a real treat and a great start of the days). Incredible breakfast: local cuisine - homemade fresh bakeries, freshly made juices and local food. Villa was super comfortable, very spacious, clean and it was a pleasure to spend there time. The shortcut to the beach was also good, so you are super close to look at the waves and swim.

They gave us a few complementary things (coconuts, bottle of wine, etc. during the stay and just seemed genuinely happy to have us! The bungalows are awesome, with A/C in the bedrooms (extremely necessary). We were with our 18 month old toddler and the following was awesome with a kid: - less than a block’s walk to the beach (chill dirt road) - ground level bungalow and fully gated property so pretty safe for her to run around - a smaller pool in addition to the big pool that she could stand in (she’s 80 cm tall) and has an umbrella so it can be fully shaded - had her own air-conditioned room (and they provided a big pack-n-play/crib) - no breakfast, but just 50 m toward the beach is an amazing breakfast place that we went to every morning (Bridgett’s Ranch - so many animals, wild and domesticated!)

The accommodation is fairly basic, but had everything we needed. Loved the outside kitchen. The host, Monica, was very helpful and even arranged a dentist appointment for us when my wife broke a tooth. The great thing is the location, right on the edge of the national park and less than a 5 minute walk into Cahuita. We were lucky to see 15-20 howler monkeys in the garden as well as capuchin monkeys and an agouti. We actually saw more wildlife while chilling out at the property than we saw in the national park.

Spectacular place in the middle of peace, forest and safety. Wonderful host and amenities. Near by downtown but yet far enough for peace and quiet. Went by myself with my dog and we had an amazing time.
