The property features garden views and is 37 km from Suizenji Park and 41 km from Kumamoto Castle. KK Wings is 31 km away and Kuroishi Station is 37 km from the guest house. We loved our stay in Wakka. We stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. It is well located in the south part of Aso's caldeira and a good spot to explore the area if you have a car. Despite being quite deeply hidden in the nature of Aso, Wakka was quite easy to find. Instructions send ahead to find the route were clear, there was little signs showing the way and the Google Maps location was correct. The room was clean, the bed confortable and with a little terrace to go with it! The hosts were very nice and even offered us a snack for the road after check-out! If you want a very peaceful and authentic experience of Aso, surrounded by trees, i recommend you stay at Wakka!!!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Ryokan Yamanoyu. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome and were very flexible with arrivaltime. They went above and beyond to accommodate our special dietary needs, showing exceptional care and effort. Their kindness and high level of service made our stay special - thanks! The onsens were a highlight—especially the outdoor ones. The variety of both private and shared baths allowed us to enjoy peaceful, relaxing moments in beautiful surroundings. As it's a smaller ryokan, the atmosphere was intimate and personal, which made our experience more unique. We stayed for two nights, and the ryokan surprised us with two different dining experiences in two separate rooms. It was a fun and memorable touch—and the food was excellent on both nights, beautifully presented with great attention to detail. We highly recommend Ryokan Yamanoyu and would love to return one day. You will find Japanese Yukata robes, slippers and a hairdryer in all rooms. Rooms come with a private toilet. Bathing facilities are shared. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, our waitress for our dinner was very fun to converse with, along with everyone else we spoke with. The dinner was very well made, the facilities were beautiful, and our rooms were everything we could’ve asked for. The location is also excellent in the middle of everything, allowing for an easy walk around Kurokawa.

There is an in-house restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. The ryokan has family rooms. The staff service was excellent. The room is very spacious and cosy. From the room balcony, we can enjoy the stunning autumn foliage and colours. The Japanese style breakfast was nicely presented and delicious

Location. Stunning view and atmosphere. Sympathy from the staff. Kudos for Shujan for his kindness and informative interaction. Amazing food experience.
