It features a terrace with panoramic views over the Swiss Alps and the bay of Lucerne. I went in Oct and trip advisor suggested I was taking a risk as weather could be bad. I wanted to experience being above the clouds and or view of town from the mountain. I took the risk and it totally paid off. The view of mountain peaks sticking up in blanket of clouds was amazing. Although, you can do a day trip but you would miss the sunrise and sunset experience from the top. The dinner as well as the view from my room was amazing as well.

The rooms at Engel Hotel feature white, empty walls, pine wood floors and straight lines. The monochrome bed headboards have built-in mirrors and halogen lighting. The room was immaculate with an incredible view, and one of the best hotel showers I’ve ever had!! The staff were very pleasant and helpful throughout our stay, and the area itself was so peaceful and quiet, especially early in the mornings. We also loved the breakfast. We easily could’ve stayed for another 3 nights - we will definitely be back!

Located in Beckenried, right at the shore of Lake Lucerne, Hotel Nidwaldnerhof direkt am See features a lake-view terrace and offers free WiFi access and free garage parking, with each room having its own assigned parking space in the underground garage. The staff were all extremely welcoming and quite simply, lovely. My daughter of 4, who doesn't speak a word of German, said one of the waitresses/hosts was now her 'best friend,' and she was sad to leave. Really absolute A+ service throughout, always a smile. The breakfast was terrific as well. Delicious cappuccino and a broad selection of everything. Bread, croissants (laugen, even!), yoghurt, pastries and cake. My daughter went to the buffet four times; we've never seen her enjoy breakfast as much as here. Oh, and the fresh orange juice was delicious, too.
