I’m running out of praise to describe our experience at this hotel. The reception was fantastic, and the staff speak perfect English. Professional, efficient, fast, attentive, and friendly service—fully up to Japanese standards. The location is excellent, right on Kyoto’s main shopping street, just a few meters from Nishiki Market and a five-minute walk from Pontocho and Gion. The rooms are spacious and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay in Kyoto.

The hotel was in a very central location with good connections to buses and the subway. Also very close to a busy shopping area. However, it was in a very quiet side street so we never heard any noise from the street. The rooms also had very good soundproofing. The owner was very hospitable, he gave us a lot of information on which attractions were worth visiting and the best way to get to them. The rooms were a good size, we had a double and the one with the balcony. They both had a washing machine and an area for drying clothes. Everything was vey well thought out and extreme clean.

Very decent room size for a budget hotel in Kyoto. Clean towels and water bottles provided daily. Location is pretty good around all main areas to visit.

The staff is very helpful, questions are answered quickly and they are all very polite and try to accommodate our needs. The hotel is silent, clean, the location is perfect. It really offers more than the regular 3 stars.

Good value for money and location. Note that there are two Piece Hostels in Kyoto - make sure to check which one you’ve booked (i.e. Sanjo) before walking there! The staff were very accommodating and it feels more like a budget hotel than a hostel if you book a room with a private bathroom. The only difference is really not having a TV or view, but these were worthy sacrifices if you’re just looking for a centrally located place to sleep. Clean.
