The spa offers a variety of massages and beauty treatments. Other facilities at River Bend Lodge include a shared lounge, a library and an outdoor pool with sun loungers. The grounds were really beautiful with cottages surrounding artfully landscaped grounds that were filled with birdsong. The chef was truly excellent and we enjoyed our breakfasts and dinners. Our park ranger, Paul MacKenzie, was outstanding. He knew the wildlife really well and had many tales from his interesting life. Rafa, one of the elephants blessed us with his presence at the gate on the day of our game drive and were fortunate to spend a lot of time with one of the lions. The Park concession was very good because it gave us long views. In contrast, during our solo drive from the bottom of Addo to the top, there was large bush obscuring views. I found the staff at River Bend to be really friendly and enjoyed my many conversations with them, particularly time spent talking to Jenna. I also enjoyed talking to Gladys, who worked in the kitchen. She and I share an interest in sewing with Shweshwe. We highly recommend River Bend. It is truly a 5 star experience.

Breakfast is served buffet-style each morning. Lunches can be enjoyed poolside or on the sun deck and dinner is available in the thatched dining room that overlooks the water. Amazing place, in the heart of the nature so that you feel like in a new dimension. The staff is extremely kind (especially Frederic, that cheered our dinner playing the piano!), and the room really big and cleaned. I had one of my best breakfast in my South Africa trip! Even the safaris were perfect. Thank you!

The private game reserve felt special, as if we had it to ourselves during our excursions. I had very high expectations based on the price and the whole experience met these. Everything was catered for effortlessly.

A continental breakfast is available at Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge. The elephants came to drink during breakfast. The bush walk and game drive was also amazing.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks are served at various indoor and outdoor dining areas. There is a fire pit where guests can enjoy a nightcap after dinner.

Guests may either book a Bed and Breakfast package or our Full Board Package which includes all meals and 1 outdoor activity per day (night stayed) on the reserve in an open game viewing vehicle, accompanied by a qualified game ranger. Outdoor activities include, game drives, giraffe walks, bush walks, bird watching and star gazing experiences. Tea and coffee are available throughout the day and sundowner drinks are offered at sunset. Incredible people and Lodge. We were allowed to go on an elephant rescue with vets and helicopter what was a once in a lifetime experience. Everything was a 10+

The staff was very friendly and helpful, special shout out to Albert, nothing was too much for him, thank you for a wonderful weekend. The pool was blue and just the right temperature, the nature all around Avoca is therapeutic and good for anyone looking for long strolls. We also met people from other countries, which was cool. Highly recommend!

Rooms at the Zuurberg Mountain Village combine safari-style with classic décor, offering natural furnishings. All rooms include a private patio and a panoramic deck and some have a deluxe bathroom. Beautiful scenic location. Staff was excellent! Especially Anthony. Did not like the road to get there. It is not maintained.
