The swimming pool and very comfortable canapés. All the management and staff members are so incredibly nice and welcoming. Everything was perfect. Thank you Karthik, Sashita and Chamod, but also all the other members of course sorry we don’t know all the names. We hope we will be able to come back one day.

The eco-friendly Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa - Thema Collection sits on the sandy shores of Passekudah Bay on the east coast of Sri Lanka. It offers Ayurvedic spa treatments, a beautiful infinity pool and spacious rooms and suites with private balconies with free Wi-Fi. The hotel welcomes all new guests with flower necklaces and cool fruit drinks. The breakfast buffet options are numerous. We ordered a la carte lunch & dinner, and the food was always exceptional. (Note, the first night we wanted something that they didn’t have but they ordered it for the second night.) The room was ok, but all rooms come with a comfortable balcony to make up for what the room lacks. Also, the bathroom is about the same size as the room. The beach and the ocean are by far the main reason to come here. The warm ocean water is unparalleled and the hotel staff do a wonderful job keeping their section of the beach clean. The pool area is also nice, but we came for the beach and spent most of our time there. The kid space is lacking, but that’s ok as long as you aren’t there when it rains. Lastly, all the staff we encountered were professional. They helped arrange our departure taxi which actually was rather reasonably priced; meaning same price everyone seems to charge tourists 200 rupees per kilometer (rather than what locals pay which is like 120-150). Overall, I highly recommend staying here.

The staff are all so friendly and helpful. The food is also great absolutely love their Thai fried rice and mango passion fruit smoothies. We stayed with our 3 kids and they all had such a great time.
