I am afraid our stay at Kinugawa Keisui might have destroyed our expectations towards other hotels for the future. I can only describe it as absolutely outstanding. Beginning with the scenario location next to a forest and a small river, the huge, modern, beautiful and amazingly comfortable room, which didn‘t only feature several small welcome presents, a minibar filled with a wide (and free) variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and huge and comfortable beds, ending at the most outstanding breakfast and dinner consisting I was allowed to witness in Japan, the hotel and the amazingly kind and professional staff made our stay to be nothing but amazing. There are some many small details we could list, such as the outdoor fire place where you can read a book in a calm and relaxed atmosphere sipping your coffee, the bento boxes for travels during the day, the Onsen on your balcony for which you can adjust the temperature to your perfect needs, the entertainment system in your room should you chose to relax here, the staff which gives you privacy should you want it but helps with any need you might have, the fast and stable internet anywhere in the hotel and and and. We usually don‘t book hotels again, but we will definitely return here during our next Japan trip.

Their egg dishes and sausages were very good, and the morning coffee was above expectations. The spas were the convenient to use, and the outdoor spa was also satisfying. The second floor tea room is very charming and the furniture is very quaint in an old-European fashion. Make sure to use the shuttle bus that is available as it saves time. Hotel is very close to both rail stations in Nikko. The room was quite spacy with all necessary things. Breakfast was good. For me it was good choice.
I liked everything. Very close to train station, the room is spacious and I had a room with a very nice view of the mountains. They have indoor onsen (ofuro). The breakfast was also small but with a good variety of items. They also have lockers to keep your luggage before/after stay for 100yen, much cheaper than at the station. And also just beside the hotel there is a good Ramen restaurant and a convenience store across the street.
This is not a unique format for Japan, but I liked how it was executed. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. The room itself is conducive to physical and mental relaxation.
Absolutely stunning location, the onsen greatly exceeded my expectations and was just so wonderful. Staff were all incredibly warm and kind and brought a great atmosphere to the communal space. Shared spaces were really nice and relaxing.
We booked breakfast and evening meal for 2 days. Both were excellent. Yoshi, made us such a wonderful meal on both nights. The food would not be out of place in a top class restaurant. The location was a very short bus ride from Nikko station. We had exclusive use of the onsen bath which was so relaxing after a day of sightseeing. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. We would love to return to this peaceful hotel.
Warm recommendation. Great hotel. A very spacious room with a view of the lake. Dinner at the level of a luxury restaurant and a very good breakfast. A pampering hot spring. A sense of personal attention from the manager and staff. A highly recommended hotel.
The Kaiseki dinner was outstanding- as was the breakfast- they are 'must order' meals..The room was spacious enough and the staff was very welcoming and polite.
The shared spaces were amazing, the meals area felt like a log cabin and we were served a delicious breakfast. The two onsen spaces were beautiful and very relaxing. The location is right next to a bus stop and within walking distance of a few tourist attractions, and a convenience store. The manager was very friendly!
Location just right, in front of the Nikko Station. The twin bed was small (just like the photo) it was 90 cm. Onsen/spa was good we use it to relaxing our muscle after long day trip. Breakfast was good and we enjoy every single food there. We took bus to the waterfall and it was beautiful. The next day we went for hiking and it was a breathtaking view
The best is the hot spring on the roof, you can see the stars there and have a unique experience. The hotel is luxurious and has very good services, the staffs are polite and helpful, and the breakfast and dinner are awesome, letting you relax in the hotel. It's winter and the heating is good enough in the room, the bed is comfortable and has good space.
