When we arrived, Steven helped us to plan our activities in Zhangjiajie, which is great, as you have a true local giving you the information of what is worth to see, and how long it takes to see it. This is something we haven't experienced anywhere before, and it really made our trip feel very personalized, and well planned. He also suggested some restaurants for us to try, and we would never have found them by ourselves. The food there was delicious! Everything in the city is close to the hotel, and accessible with DiDi, so you are never far away from anything, and if you have any problems with DiDi, Steven can help with booking them for your trips to the attractions. The breakfast dumplings and meat pancakes were also delicious. The atmosphere and the overall feel of the hotel is very friendly and homey, and it is not as official and soulless as the big hotel chains. All in all, I would say that we will never forget the experience we had in Zhangjiajie, not only because of the gorgeous scenery, but also because of our amazing host Steven and this hotel.

This was a pretty special stay. I was asked to give an english-class to the staff and i did that. Afterwards i knew at least one person on every shift. Smiling faces everywhere. Love it. They treated me so well. That was like the best hotel of all time, and i have seen a lot of hotels. Everything is easy within a 10 minute taxi drive and the room was superior, especially for the low price.

Just 5 mins walk to Tianmen Shan cable car, surrounded by many food and shopping options. Room was clean, spacious and the smart features are a nice touch. Staff are friendly and efficient – check-in/out chop-chop. Breakfast got both local and western choices, not bad! Overall a very fuss-free and comfortable stay, will definitely book again if come back to Zhangjiajie!

Just got back from Zhangjiajie and have to say this hotel is one of the most comfortable places I've stayed in Asia. As a regular office worker with constant stress, I just wanted somewhere to truly unwind—and this place nailed it. The driver was waiting at the airport holding a sign, and his first words in broken English were "No worries, mate," which made me laugh instantly. I could sit all day in the hotel courtyard with that old tree and the mountain views, beer in hand. The room design is brilliant—wood and concrete mixed in a way that's both cool and cozy, and the floor heating saved me in December. The staff never intrude, but when I asked about hiking routes, the front desk guy hand-drew me a map and marked three secret photo spots. The food was simple but fresh, and the local chicken soup reminded me of my grandma's cooking. At this price in Australia, you might only get a motel, but here—you get a mountaintop escape. Will recommend to all my mates in Melbourne.

Very satisfied with my stay at Avatar Valley Grand Hotel! The location is superb—within easy reach of both Zhangjiajie’s UNESCO sites, which saved us a lot of travel time. The room was spacious, clean, and the balcony offered stunning mountain views; waking up here felt like sleeping inside a painting. What stood out was the exceptional service. The staff contacted us in advance to arrange airport pickup and helped plan our itinerary, including booking tickets—everything was hassle-free. Special shout-out to Wendy​ for her professionalism and warm assistance throughout our trip! Breakfast had a good variety of Western and local options, perfect for international guests.
