We were looking for somewhere special to celebrate our 20th anniversary, but didn’t want to stay in a big, impersonal hotel, and it was just what we had hoped. The hotel combines traditional with beautiful modern spaces, wonderful gardens and lots of secluded spots for guests to enjoy the peace and breathtaking views. Breakfast was delicious with hot options cooked to order, and the dining room staff were friendly and efficient. We had dinner at the hotel twice in the week we stayed and the food was of a high standard; eating out on the terrace was a highlight. We loved coming back to the pool after hiking or exploring the island, or to enjoy a drink on our balcony overlooking the ocean. Ponta do Sol itself is more peaceful than many other places on the south coast but has several good places to eat and a popular pub, so most evenings we were able to eat in the village without having to drive. The lifts were all working properly. The hotel’s location is perfect for exploring all parts of the island as it is very close to the road which runs up to the mountains and the north coast. Having an indoor pool and sauna to use when the weather was chilly was a bonus. We had an amazing holiday and will be back to explore more of this wonderful island, a week wasn’t nearly enough!

The room is really spacious and clean. The area is quite and the place is really close to the ocean. The staff is really friendly and, besides the breakfast, you can also have a drink/ something to eat in the rest of the day. The breakfast was very tasty. I really liked the fact that all the tables have on them images from Madeira (levada's, birds, mountain peaks) - this means attention to details from the owners.

It's a magical place. We loved every second we spent there. It's like a dreamy sanctuary in Balinese style. Staff is very kind and helpful. Breakfast was great. We enjoyed sauna too. Private outdoor bathtube was amazing.
